Not good for you, you mean.
Kinda hard to argue that the company with the #1 selling phone, #1 selling laptop, and #1 selling tablet/netbook (since we're using that comparison) isn't doing it right.

This is my last post on the topic. This thread should be about the iPad, not Apple, but no, not really just for me, for anyone who doesn't have a lot of money. Apple simply charges too much for their products IMO. It's not about being right, it's about too much money for a product, IMO.

No they don't, I have no problem with Apple's prices because you get a great product that is well made and works extremely well. I don't mind paying the extra now so I don't have to keep rebuying some lesser product again and again.

I'm no fan of Apple and I'm not happy with my $249 and $349 netbooks. They are decent enough but I would like something faster for convienience.
Luckily, there are $200 Google Android Tablets coming but I understand they probably won't have the App variety of ipads or have decent SSD speed @ lower price points. The ones out right now use slow SDHC cards.
Apple is consuming like 1/3rd of all nand flash chips being manufactured in the world and causing a price increase on SSDs

In other news the US leads the world in oil consumption, causing a price increase on oil

And yet oil prices are lower in the US than anywhere else
I've tried an ipad. Love the speed. Now we need more platforms with that speed and ease of use and for some, more value for money.

Exactly. I'm not going to pretend Apple stuff is cheap by any means, but to me it's still worth it, even though all I've bought is one desktop and two iPods. The quality and customer service are quite good and the products last a while. Not sure I can say that about netbooks.

Hack&Lube, you are a closet Apple Fanboy. I've met your types, i'm onto your trail. Who are you kidding? Just admit it. You payed 2500 dollars for a macbook pro and you think that it was the best business decision of your life. Heck if those 2 Million fanboys who bought the iPad put their money into Africa's poverty problem It would go along way into rectifying it. Again I will say this... Wozniak and Job's are dark lords of the sith. They probably take out life insurance policy's on their Chinese workers like walmart does with their american counterparts. Crooked beyond belief, blinded by corruption, and the ongoing whoring of consumer products. I feel dirty every time I use my iPod.

This is the oddest thing that I've ever been accused of. If I'm actually a closet Apple fan boy, I must also like men.
Oh god, I just realised that I'm typing on an Apple keyboard.

I dunno about that. Last year I bought a Macbook. With it, I was able to record an album, create a website for the release, and do a lot of the additional visual/graphical elements involved with the projects with the built in suite of software that comes with the Mac. With a Windows PC, while the bottom line price for the machine may have been cheaper, by the time I add in a recording software package, a website creating package, and some other photo/video editing software, how much would I be looking at? Probably well over the cost of the Mac. Sure, when you look at straight specs the Macs might seem expensive, but theres a lot of additional value in the software that comes with it. IMO.

I don't think it is an innacurate observation to say that many Windows users choose that platform because it is easier to pirate all of that software.

I'm assuming if you're going the "if they just gave money to africa" route then you probably live in a box and give all possible income to the starving?
If you think the amount I spend on apple products is harming the world I imagine you'd have a sh*t if you knew how much I spend on my low-end car (ready for this? ... Almost $24,000!!)
As this is the ipad thread I'll leave with a couple of comments about it. The iTunes store has the song popularity rating. Ive been waiting for the iPhone store to get that for 2 years now.
Also, I photographed a wedding last weekend and met with the bride and groom last night and used the iPad as a display. It was so much nicer than a laptop because they could hand it around to family as they were looking, and they could zoom in on anything with just a pinch. The display is just built for photos.

I missed the Africa thing....
Hey narbeZ, I have an iPad and I'm willing to bet $100 (donation to charity) that I gave more money for international development in Africa last year than you did. I have the tax receipts up in a binder. Buying luxuries and giving to charity isn't an either/or option.

Then you should buy a netbook.
I wasn't speaking in generalities or for everyone. I was literally speaking about myself. I think the only time I would use a netbook would be in the living room with it on the coffee table. I wouldn't use a netbook in bed at night or in the morning to check the weather and I certainly wouldn't use it on the train to read a book.
A netbook might be better at doing "computer" things but it's not better with a lot of other practical things (at least for me). That's the reason I quoted you. Just because a netbook can seemingly do more things on a spec sheet and have a lower price tag doesn't mean it can do things better than the iPad. A lot of people that I have talked to and shown my iPad to have asked, "so why would I buy an iPad?" I say that it depends on what you want to do.

Does anybody know when the 2nd wave of iPads will be in stock?
I haven't really dug around, just been checking stock at Best Buy.

I bought one Friday at the Apple store. Sounded like they had all models except the 16Gb 3G.
