I've got no problems with it. Those are the rules.
If Liverpool had managed to score an away goal in Madrid it really wouldn't have mattered. They didn't and Madrid did. End of story.

However, Madrid had an extra 30 minutes to score an away goal. It's as fair as golden gold.

Ah well there's the rub. I had no problem with the golden goal rule either. It's the same for both teams.
Liverpool knew what an away goal in extra time would mean. Yeah, I could moan about the injustice of it all but, quite frankly, I don't believe there was any.

Nice assist by Gerrard on Drogba's goal today. I'm willing to bet that there will be some conspiracy theories thrown out about that! Ah well, only one match left thankfully.

I have now been at Anfield....twice! Not the best results, but for the greater good, that loss to Chelsea was probably for the best. The Albert was unbelievable (especially since it's where I bought my ticket for the Atletico match), and before the Chelsea match, a plane with a banner that read "George and Tom still not welcome" was circling the stadium.

It's a fantastic experience, nothing like it really. Pity the Madrid result wasn't better, that would have been sweet to see.
I still remember the first time I went to Anfield. I was only 6 years old and I remember thinking how small the field seemed. It looked so big on TV but not so much when you are at the stadium. I was in the family paddock with my dad (RIP) and was amazed looking over at the Kop at how loud it was and how many scarves and banners there were. It was an incredible sight. I ended up standing in the Kop for many years before the seats were put in. I loved being part of that throng. 20,000 people literally pulling the ball into the Kop net. It's not quite the same nowadays but still an awesome thing to see.
Congrats on your visits.

I simply haven't seen anything like that city on a game day. Even if you're not near the stadium, everything's buzzing. There are people here who truly love the Flames, but for an entire city (except the Toffees supporters...of which there aren't nearly as many...at least not visible) to be behind a team that much, was simply insane to see. Everything I expected and more.

My wife, who's from Red Deer, says the same thing. It's all about the match all day. Nothing else really matters to anybody. There definitely is a buzz everywhere you go, you're right.
Liverpool is a special city, it really is. I may not live there anymore but it's still a huge part of me. There's a saying and it's true, "You can take the scouser out of Liverpool but you can never take Liverpool out of the scouser.
Welcome to the scouser club, Nuji.

Thank you!
I agree. I spent Thursday to Tuesday there, and in that short span I realized that it is indeed a special city. I will be toying with the idea of moving there in 2 years.
Anybody watching tomorrow's match? Delayed, and it won't be aired until 3. Perfect time to watch it at the pub, and as it's the last game of the season, it will probably be a great time, regardless of the outcome of the season. Now since I can't give out the cards via the internet, if anybody comes in, just say you got the invite from Calgarypuck, and your first pints on me.

I personally could still see Torres going to Chelsea....Him and Drogba, wow! That would be tied for the best goal scoring duo in the world IMO with Barca's Messi and Zlatan/Villa combo.

I would be able to see it too, but my brain doesn't allow me to imagine things that make me vomit. Loyalties are so tough when there's such an absurd amount of money involved. I really do think though, that unless Chelsea ponies up a semi truck to every other bidders wheelbarrow of cash, that Torres would prefer to not go to Chelsea.
Optimistic perhaps. Depends how much it matters to Torres, but nowhere will the fans adore him like they do in Liverpool.
....I don't think that I mentioned in this house that I was dropped off at his house by a cab driver...as it's a few blocks away from Strawberry Fields.

Was Benitez an actual elite manager? Or someone living off of his 05 champions league and 06 FA cup victory?
So who's next then? Mourinho was a pipe dream anyhow, and he's gone onto Madrid. Villa have warned Liverpool off Martin O'Neill, but was there more than just rumour there? Will they push on now that the position is vacant?
Now what about the Spanish players? Was there a loyalty to a Spanish manager that won't be there for anyone else? Torres and Reina are the ones obviously of the most concern when it comes to that, with Torres in the lead by a longshot (although Reina is a fantastic keeper). That will worry me until we get votes of confidence from a new manager AND owners group.
I always held the Flames and Liverpool FC at the same plane. Then I went to Anfield, and the Flames have taken second fiddle.
