To note, I didn't save, I saved as, since I wanted to rename it. Maybe its save that didn't work? At the office, so can't check iTunes. I will check on save when I get home for anyone if they desire.
At 8$ this app was a great deal, since it does word, excel, ppt etc.
Not as fancy as iWork though, but it does the job. Until iWork updats with these cloud features!!!(I think it will sooner rather then later)

Yup the iPhone does do this as well.

k, question for those of you with an iPhone and an iPad:
does having both make you use one less? If you could only pick one, which would it be? would your answer change if it was the 4g?
i have a bberry pearl, i could probably upgrade that on the cheap because my contract is up. I was originally gunna go iPhone for sure...but the notion of getting an iPad instead popped into my head today and now i can't get it out.

iPad for me - I’m a calendar/contact/mail kinda guy mostly, and I already use the iPad way more than the iPod Touch.
In fact, for me the iPad is what I always wanted - a 3g connected iPhone with a bigger screen, and nobody bothering me with voice calls.

The starting price point is just way too much, I agree. Despite Steve Jobs saying "in the palm of your hand" 100 times during his intro speech it's still not worth what they are selling at.

I definitely use my iPhone less for surfing and gaming, I normally used it on the couch, my iPad now gets all that use.
I would pick the iPad over the iPhone right now, but that might change when the 4G comes out. But the fact is I don't have to choose since I have both!!!

As a device i prefer the iPad, but if i had to pick one I'd go with the iPhone. To me the iPad is a brilliant companion computer. I think it replaces 95% of the function of my laptop and my iPhone, but the 5% leftover is too important to overlook. I'm not saying the ipad is a failure for this reason, just that its awesomeness is accentuated by having it go with a computer and a phone. My advice is to go with iPhone.

I have a Windows Home Server and tonight I tried to set up the iPad so it could connect with my video folders which contain about 250 of my ripped dvds, some tv shows, many music videos some downloaded MKV's in 1080p, basically 2 terabytes of video.
I expected failure.
To my great shock with AirVideo, I was able to connect to the server and play pretty much everything, smoothly, and without hassle in terms of setup.
The MKV's include movies in 1080p which won't even play on the Xbox 360 via streaming, but play on the iPad flawlessly.
So now I have access on a handheld device, anywhere with wifi or 3g, to my entire video library (excepting the dvd's which were ripped in native format, but I'll figure that out).
Now I just have to make sure I don't use it on 3g... the .mkv files are over 8gb each...

I tried air video on my iphone and it didn't work all that well. Time to give it another try. I have heard from three people today about how awesome it is. Clearly I did something wrong. Air Video kinda takes the piss out of a cloud-based iTunes doesn't it (at least for videos)?
Edit: OMFG it works beautifully. Started up my HD version of avatar and it started playing in under 5 seconds.

Air Video is amazing...
Also, I can fully 100% confirm Documents to go Premium syncs perfectly with dropbox.
After saving the file, it asks to "Sync" with dropbox, which you select yes and then boom!

What are they at now, 2 million units or something? They would be at 5 million if the starting price point was $299. Why does everything Apple need to be so overpriced?

They don't need to, but they are selling every one they build so why lower the price?
Their model has rarely been to cut costs, even as a model ages. Version 2 will be a similar price point but they will add features to justify maintaining price.
If they decide to go for the lower price point they will introduce a similar product but one that won't steal from the other line too much.
You can't fault Apple for their marketing, they are very good at it.

Apple can hardly keep up with demand at the current prices.
I'd be very surprised if anybody at Apple is calling 2 million units in 2 months anything less than a smashing success.

If Apple can sell out their inventory at a $300 price point and sell out that same inventory at a $600 price point, which makes more sense? For whatever reason many people feel Apple should be your friend and they act surprised to learn that Apple's main interest is making money and not giving you a backrub and a free laptop. They make an ass-load of money, and they don't do it catering to people looking for a bargain.
I read a story on the guy who started 5 Guys Hamburger and Fries (article here). He put a sign in his front window that read something along the lines of ""If you're in a hurry, there are a lot of really good hamburger places within a short distance from here." Apple seems to take the same approach. If you're looking for a $300 computer, they aren't hard to find.

Had an idea!
|
Any company in the world will maximize profits.
So, if they sell it for $1000/piece, and can't keep up with demand, and it only costs $100 to actually make one, good for Apple.
