Gregg needs bigger glasses if he thinks any of those balls were strikes

I'm just really annoyed because a guaranteed series win against the best team in the division would have been huge. Instead it's momentum to the Rays, coming back from 0-5.
Oh well, back at it tomorrow.
And yes, I know there's still a half-inning left.

What the hell happened. I quit watching when it was 2 outs in the 9th thinking they had it in the bag. Dammit.

That was one you could feel slipping away the last half of the game. I really hope this isn't the game they look back on as the one when the wheels fell off, because this type of loss can do that. Especially with the Wells double just inches away from a homerun and tieing the game, and Bautista missing the ball by a millimeter to end it.
That one hurt.

Gregg refused to throw strikes....5 walks.
Beyond pathetic.

Angel hernendez made some interesting, but likely all correct calls there in the 9th. Interesting finish.

It does hurt but I like that they didn't go 3 and out in the 9th. Good rally, inches from a tie game. They can take confidence in that.

Another classic example of Cito over-managing and burning out his entire bullpen for a combined 2.1 outs. You simply can't manage like that when you have an average closer in Gregg.
You knew that Gregg didn't have it when he was more worried about a meaningless run with Crawford on 2nd and a 5-3 lead than the batter. A guy like Gregg should always have Frasor, Downs, or Camp (based on his play this year) ready to go in the bullpen because he's not a consistent enough player to expect him to get himself out of trouble. When he gets in trouble it's because he's having an off-night and when he's having one of those he's ugly to watch.

Nice to see Tallet have a solid start after getting lost in the shuffle after his huge contributions while the team was competitive last season.

Why are strong jays not drawing more fans?
Quote:
Back in April when Blue Jays attendance bottomed out to record lows, there was a great deal of number-crunching and nail-biting by the club, fans, and the media about what was keeping the customers away.
During a four-game series in Toronto's opening homestand, Chicago White Sox outfielder and former Blue Jay Alex Rios went so far as to suggest that baseball was "dead in Toronto."
Now it's the beginning of June, and attendance has not improved at all. Monday night's contest against the majors' best club, the Tampa Bay Rays, drew just 11,335 to the Rogers Centre.

I haven't read this entire thread, so maybe this has been discussed to death, but why can't the Jays draw any fans?
I assume a big part of this is being in the AL East. Fans have little hope that the Jays can overtake the powerhouse Yankees and BoSox with their seemingly unlimited payrolls. Is there any chance that MLB will bring in a hard salary cap in the future?

Attendance numbers were inflated last year. This year they are reporting the actual number.
The Jays don't have a limited payroll, they can spend $120million plus if the situation is right. The team we are watching now, with this pitching staff, none of them will walk away because of money. Toronto is in a much better situation than Tampa Bay for example who are looking to cut costs and will lose a free agent like Carl Crawford for sure.
The weekend series against the Yankees will draw a good crowd and if the Jays do well, people will return.

Gregg has shown this year that he will struggle with his control the second day if he's used in back to back games. They should either stop using him to close out the games that second day, or make sure they have Frasor ready to go in case Gregg doesn't have his control that second day.
Too bad for Gregg if it hurts his feelings to be pulled from the game with only 1 out left after he walks the bases loaded.

wow your Jays have been keeping me nervous. Thank goodness for the rays rallying in the 7th to 9th inning or you guys would easily be sweeping us. The jays are on the right track if you guys can keep consistent slugging and pitching for the rest of the year you will have a shot at wild card. I want rays and jays to make the post season!
