You do know that Finkelstein is anti Israel, who got mauled over his accusations against Alan Dershowitz. He also attacked holocaust survivors, He was also denied tenure at Depaul University, because of his behavior and views.

Regarding the G8/G20, Canada is a democracy that allows peaceful protest. If it turns ugly, the RCMP will do what's necessary without excess force such as riot police, tear gas etc. Not open fire on civialians.
I disagree. I guess it depends on what constitutes turning ugly. If there is 100 protesters and one RCMP officer (with 1 backup and a couple more in a helicopter), and it turns ugly to the point where bats and crowbars are directed at said officer, there is no hope of controlling that situation with anything but deadly force. You don't even know that it was going to turn ugly until the first guy got beaten, and at that point, tear gas/flashbangs and such become less useful because of friendly fire, not to mention as with any non-lethal weapons, there is still a chance of death. (hello tasers!)
When you have similar numbers as the protestors, then strategies like riot police and shields have an effect. You can't form a riot control line with one guy rappelling onto a ship. Also, it's clear that Israel allowed peaceful protests as the other 5 ships were boarded without any issue. Only when it turned into a 100 vs 1 melee was force even used.

The basic point you raised, that he is a denier is categorically false. Nowhere does he claim that the holocaust did not happen. His parents survived it.

No while he doesn't deny the holocaust, he does deny the significance of it. He also turns it around and accusses Israel and the Jews of using the holocaust as a industry that they take advantage of.
The guy is singularly unbalanced against Israel, he's been accussed of sloppy research. He's a sensationalist and nothing more.

Yes, they will use proper force - I work a half block outside the security forces' "Red Zone", and well within the "Yellow Zone". They are fencing in the Red Zone starting this week. If you as a pedestrian are in the Red Zone after June 21 then you will be stopped by security forces and asked to provide photo ID and the reasons for your being there - or you will be forcibly removed and interogated elsewhere (according to a friend in the Ontario Provincial Police.) Riot police on foot and on horseback armed with guns, tasers, and clubs will keep the peace at the edges of the Red Zone.
Peaceful protesters will be allowed to stand at the edge of the fence - but the security forces are preparing for violent anarchists looking for a fight, and they won't be tolerated.
