Default Capital One - Do you have one in your wallet?

I am considering switching my MasterCard over to Capital One. Does anyone have any experiences with them, good or bad?

I have one, don't use it much and they bug the crap out of me all the time. Like any other CC's they like to up your limit, pay off your other cards..etc.

Their all the same.

Yep, I got one about 2 months ago. I really like their web banking....a pretty smooth and quick site.

I flew to Whitehorse last month and attempted to rent a car at the airport. My card was originally declined. I called customer service (which is also very good...especially compared to Fido and Shaw) and they told me my card was flagged because of a suspicious transaction.

I eventually got it cleared up over the phone but despite the inconvenience, it is good to know that their system is pro-active with these things.

So far I give Capital One two thumbs up

I've had one for 3 years, been great, no hassles at all. And they are great if you are trying to rebuild credit, as they report on-time payments to the credit bureau every couple of months, which helps out your rating.

Never had an issue with mine, just wish they would stop sending me cheques that I don't want to use and then have to destroy.

I have one with a really super low rate of .75 over prime. I used it all over the US and in Western Europe without any incidents. Then about a year ago, I kept getting phone calls that there was suspicious activity and that the card has been suspended. After calling them and waiting on hold for 30 minutes, I get it cleared up. Then it happened again. This time they sent new cards. Then the new cards had the security compromised. I'm so fed up with waiting on hold to clear these matters up when I didn't even use the card that I just gave up. At least I know if the card is suspended that there won't be any fraudulent charges against it.

I've had one for a while now, the online banking is very straight forward and secure.

I have been happy with it.

I have a Capital One card. I like it. It provides some nice flexibility. What I don't like is when they send the cheques that you can write for cash at a rate of 9.9%. If you look at the fine print there is a one time 3.0% fee on top of it.

I had one for my first CC, they got me at the Mac Hall concourse and offered me a free coffee cup, how could I say no? Overall their service was pretty consistent, but it didn't really wow me or convince me to stay with them.

I've since moved on, and I think a Travel Rewards Visa is the way to go. You pay $100-$150 a year, and can easily recoup that and more in travel rewards through regular purchases.

edit: And the cheques in the mail every month were really annoying, I understand they just want more business, but I don't need a letter from their head of Finance, with a fake signature, telling me I'm a valued customer and to use the 6 cheques they sent in the mail at a low low interest rate of 18% per year....shoo fly.

Have had one for five years, never had any problems but nothing really special about it either. It's just another credit card.

i have been using an rbc avion platinum for a few years and accumulated points; even used some for a mexico trip.

i have recently switched to a cashback mastercard though as the "payback" is relatively the same as points, except the cash can be used on things that you really really want, and not on a catalogue item or gift certificates that have been marked up.
