Geez, I really hate it when people whine about good laws that are reasonable and common sense, thinking that they're special and should be able to do whatever they want - just because. Window tinting, speeding, running red lights...I've seen it all on this site at one time or another. I'm betting the OP is regretting his whiny post.

Depends on how dark the front windows are tinted. Having a 15% tint on your front windows is not even in the same ballpark as speeding and running red lights.

Besides, I've had vehicles with limo tint on the front windows and never had an issue. Have you? Your eyes adjust to looking out of the tint really quickly.

Indeed, perhaps that is why the ticket is less than for those particular offenses(?)

At the end of the day, it's still illegal nonetheless as the law stands.

When I think back about my ticket a couple years back, the officer not only gave me a tint ticket, he also gave me a disobeying a peace office ticket as well.

My tickets wern't $57, they were almost $200 in fines I had to pay.

The reason for this was the officer said Tinted windows were his peeve, and he has told people to take them off in the past, and then people don't, so he doesn't give out warnings anymore, he just gives out a massive amount of fines.

I will have to see if I can dig up that ticket. I know for sure it was more than $57.

I don't know how I could have disobeyed a peace officer either if it was my first ticket for that.

See, I'm a big "you do the time ..." advocate, but when police officers do stuff like what you've described, that's where you can see people going all "I hate cops". There's no need for that.

Ok, we have alot of people in the thread recently advising they have recieved these tinting tickets. It would be very helpful to all the rest of us if you can advise how dark you have your front windows tinted??

If the cops are cracking down on "limo-tinted" front windows then I do not have a huge issue with that. If, on the other hand, they're cracking down on folks like me(you can easily see the color of my shirt through my front tint) then I know this city really has turned into a police state and I am going to have to really watch my arse.

Good call, it was a really whiny OP. Especially the part where he said:

Quote:
I don't mind paying the ticket, but i'm currently registered under my dad, so i'm worried that the ticket is going to raise the insurance..
Damn those whiny d-bags that are willing to pay tickets but have never had one before and are curious about how it might affect the insurance so they post on a forum where help is usually really forthcoming in the hopes of getting some questions answered. Damn those d-bag and their run-on sentences.

Did you even read past the thread title?

One thing I really noticed the other day. I was in the left turning lane, and there was a car across from me in the left turning lane and he had tinted fronts backs and sides, and it was impossible for me to see past his vehicle to see what traffic was coming behind him on the curve.

I would assume the same thing if you were following behind a vehicle with all tints is its almost like a solid obstruction on the road.

I've had 15% couple years ago - the cop tried to peel it off right there....and failed. Then he gave me a ticket.

I currently have 35% all the way around (I know some people so do 35% front and 15% rear to "create a contrast"). My tint is still pretty obvious but I've had no problems so far.

I'm pretty sure it's 30 or 35% but I'm not the one who got it put on so I'd have to check. It's not limo-tint by any stretch though, it's probably no more tinted than yours.

One of the young kids I work with that has tinted fronts (yes, he drives a civic) had a cop slash his window tinting with a razor. Apparently the cop told him that's the only way to get people to take it off, because tickets don't work.
