EA Sports to Include CHL Teams AND Players in NHL 2011
http://tsn.ca/chl/story/?id=322283
I think this is pretty cool, being able to draft "Real" players from "REAL" teams instead of generated names. Includes the Memorial Cup Tournament mode as well...
I am really excited about this!

Meh
Their player ratings for NHL aren't that great. I'd hate to see the mess the CHL player ratings will be

i'm guessing they would be based on if they were drafted 1st round, 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc and undrafted

I talked to a member of the Kelowna Rockets tonight who seemed pretty stoked.

I would be, apparently the players aren't receiving any compensation for this, but they're kids....I'd be excited to be in a video game

As long as the Potential system is fixed a bit, I'm perfectly happy. And as long as this part is even passable, I think it'll become a great replacement for NHL10.

I could see the scouting improve. in the GM mode
Instead of "Scout Canada" "Scout USA" Scout Europe"
it could be scout WHL, OHL, QMJHL,

The problem I see now is that it might not nicely encompass all the European players or the College kids.

I dont see them ever including the European youngsters
However, with NCAA having agreements with EA Sports for Football, Basketball, and Baseball, I could see them adding Hockey to it....however, i dont think they would have the player names.

Yeah you're correct with that. However, there's usually someone who has all the player names for download after the fact.

I often replace some NHL teams with European teams and play a career and trade players. Wonder if that'll work with CHL teams? Trade Iginla back to Kamloops

...And get 125 goals, 350 points based on his massive Overall difference compared to every other player.

I'm putting Kamloops in the NHL, not vice-versa

They should create all-time teams in the junior leagues. Heck, even in the NHL!

I have no idea how the licensing for CHL works. NHL players get to have their names in thanks only to the NHLPA's participation; is there a CHL body responsible for the well-being of the players that has suddenly signed on? I think it is pretty cool but I never thought it could happen. What if a parent of a 16-year-old kid doesn't want their son to be included and given a player rating--do they get a say? I'm sure the kids are all stoked but given there's got to be, what, 1000 CHL parents of under-18s out there, some of them are bound to be dissatisfied.
I'm just curious how the mechanics of it all works.

I'm assuming it's covered by a clause in the standard player contract that CHL players (and their guardians if applicable) sign.
