Yeah, but when cops approach the car they do it from behind and they can see the back seat from the rear window which is illegal to tint. If I was a cop and I was pulling over a suspected stolen car I'd sure like to see the person I'm about to arrest and if he has any weapons visible.

They are trained on how to approach a vehicle and tint doesn't allow them to do what they were trained to do.

That's not what I was saying at all just what the auto tinting professionals claim.

I'm actually against people tinting their windows, but you would have known that if you read the thread.
Did you even read my post before assuming I called you an idiot?

I did address the point you brought up specifically in my post, and said I didn't think it would be safer for the reason you said but it really was my opinion.

Tinted windows compared to non tinted windows are clearly less safe when you consider ALL reasons stated in this thread, regardless if you are considering the safety of police in respect to firearms, people driving at night, or identification of drivers or passengers.

How many people would wear sunglasses when they driver at night? I hope that number is very low. Same logic applies here, but with the additional factors as well. It is a no brainer.

A. It's not illegal to tint the back window.
B. Everything else you've completely made up in this thread is wrong as well.

you are either a serious idiot or just trying to justify the tint you have.
Considering I dont have tinted windows I think you called me a idiot, but thats not the point.

I agree that tinted windows bring more evil than good as stated in previous posts so I really don't know what you are arguing.

A. (2) A person shall not install, replace or cover the rear window glazing in a motor vehicle with a transparent, translucent or opaque material unless the motor vehicle has outside rear view mirrors on both the left and right that comply with section 72(2).

B. Please point the things I made up.

A. Show me a car without sideview mirrors.

B. Just go back and read everything you've written. It was all wrong.

You think tinted windows are more evil than good, but still think my comment was directed at you enough that you took it personally?

Wow.

Have a nice day.

So it's illegal if you don't have mirrors? I'd think it'd be illegal to not have mirrors in the first place

I am not a legal guru, but I bought a Nissan when I was younger that came from the factory with only a driver's side and windshield mirror. I did I little research and I think what I concluded was you either need to have both side mirrors, or a side mirror and a windshield mounted one. It would have been ~15 years ago though, so my recollection might be skewed, or the laws changed.

My mistake I thought outside rear view mirrors meant the ones the undercover cops use.

In 1997 my friend bought a brand new civic and it only had a drivers side and rear view mirror as well.

Also, if the reasoning behind tinted windows being illegal because EMS has a tough time breaking the window easily then why isn't it illegal to tint the back windows?

I'd hope they cared as much for the back seat passengers (who are usually kids) as the front.

All auto glass is made from tempered? wrong. All windshields and some rear windows in higher end cars are made from laminated glass.

Also, I never said that the sole reason was for EMS to break glass in an event of an emergency. I clearly said "one of the main reasons". Maybe you should carefully read posts, before you accuse someone of being wrong.

This has got to be your best post....EVER!

I'm all for ticketing people with front window tints. The 100 other reasons aside, eye contact is a big part of driving.

No factory vehicle comes wih front tinted windows that I am aware of. Rear windows are often tinted and this is legal whether it's a factor option or aftermarket.

Shops will install tint on front windows because it is not illegal to install, rather it is illegal to operate a motor vechicle wih tinted windows. Most of the time the tint shop will make you aware it is illegal and ask you if you still want to do it.
It actually is illegal to install. Would be a pretty easy ticket to write I would think... but than some cry baby would come whining to CP about getting a ticket for installing window tint...

I just got back from the Dallas area. Tint down to 25% is legal, and about 80% of cars have it. A real factor there for the tint (besides the heat) is privacy. Miles and miles of freeways with bumper to bumper traffic at times.

personally i'd just remove the tint - why invite a reason for the police to stop you.

if you need eye protection the oakley makes some high end sunglasses.

I'm going to propose a new internet law.
I'll call it Shantz's Law.
I got thinking of it a while back, and this seems as good a place to bring it up as any.

Shantz's Law:
Any law a person disagrees with, despite the existance of any number of logical reasons for it's existence, and that carries a fine for violating it, will be deemd a "Cash Cow" by said person.

Corallary: When presented with any number of logical reasons for the existance of a finable offence that a person does not agree with, that person will immediatly suggest that Cops should abandon said "Cash Cow" and focus on real crimes instead. Most notably murder, gangs, and pedophiles.

My wife just got a tint ticket this morning. (and we've had them tinted for 4 years without hassle)

They must be doing a crack-down. ($55 was the fine)

I'm sure that a crack-down and the fact that it is the end of the month is purely coincidental.
