Yeah, so I used as much wifi as I possible could and still get charged $30. Canadian data prices are crazy.
Well, Moblicity is advertising unlimited everything for $65/month. Hopefully that sends the big 3 a message that they should stop ripping us off.

Mehn.... Moblicity and Wind are using a part of the wireless spectrum that most phones will not work on. I doubt the big three are scared... they have a oligopoly on the main spectrum.

My 3GS was about to die so I plugged it in and took a nap. I awoke an hour later thinking it would be half charged but there was only a white screen. The buttons didn't even work, nor a reset. I called it and it rang but I saw nothing. I tried a 2nd reset and it went back to normal with a 50% charge. It's fine but it's only 6 months old. Has anyone had any problems like this? Should I take it back to Fido?

Did you try a hard reboot? Hold the lock and home button?

What's the easiest way to get a large collection of uncompressed pictures onto the iphone?

My parent's family photos are all on a laptop and totals about 30GB of uncompressed pictures right from the digital camera.

They want them to be stored and viewable on a 16GB iphone and of course, need to be reduced in size and also could be compressed.

Is there an app that can do this easily? How do I transfer files into the pictures folder of an iphone? I don't know how the structure works. Is it like USB mass storage or do I need to go through itunes?

Is there a GPS app that is stored on the phone itself? Meaning you wouldn't have to use your dataplan to download data to use it?

Not that comes with it, but you can buy them. Tom Tom is $50 each for Canada and US

Wouldn't Dropbox work?

He needs to get the photos smaller first, something like this:

http://www.fotosizer.com/

Then as far as transferring, you can use iTunes to specify a folder to sync to the phone.

why not just use iTunes right from the start? it will automatically resize and put them on the phone.

just so you know though, depending on compression you're going to use a lot of your iPod's free space doing this...

my parents are old, they don't listen to music or watch videos. it's kind of sad. to them, the iphone is a portable photoalbum to show pictures to other people...and also a phone

16GB should be plenty once the jpgs get resized from 7 megapixels or whatever they were originally take at.

I've used all my data this month. Can anyone tell me how much it is extra per mb on Fido? I can't find the info on their site.

Depends on which plan you have, if you have one of the regular data addons (500MB for $25 or something) then it's $0.05/MB.

Curiously, how much did you use?

Today I was doing some work around Bankview. Lots of small apartments and rental buildings in the area. I went to use my phone and the usual list of available network names popped up. One of them caught my attention and made me laugh...."we can hear you having sex".

I was only on their 500mb pan and i'm at about 520mb right now and my billing cycle is up on June 7, so only a little while to wait.

I don't have a computer at home at the moment so I'm using the iphone for my browsing habits now I guess. I called them yesterday and upped my plan to 1gb so I don't have to worry about it next month.

Sorry if this has been discussed, but have any 3G owners talked to Rogers/Fido about upgrading to the new iPhones next week?

Why would they tell us anything about something that isn't even officially announced?
