That's cold? Where the heck are you from? The vast majority of these players play in the European winter. That's normal conditions. 10C is an ideal temperature for any high activity sporting event.
Where do all the Calgary-based CP users, more specifically England supporters, plan on catching the games?
There is always The Ship and Anchor or sports bars, what else is good?
TBQH, I find at home with my TV, PVR, and no extraneous noise to be just about the perfect place. Hoping to pull off a miracle and have 3D up and running too... Ship and Anchor has a serious lack of screens.
The vuvuzelas are obnoxious. I couldn't stand them during the Confederation Cup. Last I heard, they were thinking of only allowing them during South Africa games...does anyone know what FIFA decided? Thanks
Rooney doesn't need another striker to score, he played by himself most of the time for Man U
and this formation gives them more control of the ball in midfield
I do think they will use 4-4-2 for the group stages, but once it gets to the knockout games I think they go with this one
only place I disagree with him is on his subs, no point to take 5 strikers when Gerrard can always move up and play as an attacking mf/2nd striker. I would drop Heskey (although it will probly be Bent) and add another midfielder
If they were going to drop a forward, I'd gas Defoe. Bent has been in great form this season - can't say the same about the other guy.
For some reason England has a very good record when Heskey plays. He doesn't score much but he is a great target man, and can hold the ball up for Rooney. Even though he isn't the no.2 striker in England, he plays, they win.
David James, Glen Johnson, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Theo Walcott, Tom Huddlestone, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, Wayne Rooney, Darren Bent.
big games for Huddlestone and Bent as everyone else is 99.9% assured a spot on the team

Yup I think Bent needs to score in this game to make the squad, here's hoping he does it.

Too bad that England has won all ten games in which Walcott has featured, averaging more than three goals a game. The pro-Spurs hatred for this guy borders on the sublime. I'm pretty sure that if Walcott was an Spurs (yuk) player, there would be none of these ad hominem attacks.
Just as in the case of Emile Heskey, England have a very good record when he features, even though his goal scoring record isn't that good. He plays well with smaller forwards like Rooney and Owen and has definitely had a hand in their prolific goal scoring successes.
I wonder if Spurs fans felt this way when Paul Robinson was in the squad, as it is widely thought that he has been the worst England starting goalkeeper in the past 30 years, or were they intoxicated by the fact that their club 'keeper was England's 'keeper?
If Walcott plied his trade up and down the pitch in N17, I hardly think that there would be this hate on for him. But maybe some CPers know better than Capello.

Its not just Spurs fans who dislike him, and if he played for Everton (or any other club not in the "big" 4) he wouldn't even make the squad
95% of the media who covers the team have said he was one of the worst players in practice the last week and was being badly outplayed by Adam Johnson
It is nowhere near an anti-Arsenal thing, he is just not a good enough player to make the English national team let alone start in a world cup

Others were not so generous. Chris Waddle, England winger of 62 caps, was commentating on England's 3-1 victory for BBC 5 Live and Walcott's display merely confirmed his suspicions about the Arsenal wideman.
'I don't think he's got a football brain,' said Waddle, who also monitored Walcott's progress closely during last summer's European Under 21 Championships. 'He doesn't understand the game, where to be running, when to run inside a full back, when to play a one-two. It's all off the cuff.
'Let's be honest, good defenders would catch him offside every time. I don't know whether he studies the game, learns the game. He's at a great club, where they play fantastic football and I'm surprised he's never developed his game.
'People keep saying he's young but Wayne Rooney understood the game at 16. I've never seen any difference in Walcott since he was at Southampton and broke into the team at a very young age. He doesn't play a lot of football. He hasn't done anything for a long time. I think Croatia was a one-off.'
even most Arsenal fans say Lennon should start http://arsenal-mania.com/forum/viewt...p?f=25&t=34925 (the stuff about the world cup is in the later pages its a very long thread, some of the language is NSFW as well)
