Need to be able to select a user and "log in" as that user. Or password protect some apps at least.
The cynical side of me believes that Apple did this so that people would feel a need to get a separate iPad for each person in the family. I like my iPad, but it would be a lot more useful for me if you could have secure logins for different users.

He's 5.
Sounds like quite the tech savvy 5 year old. Clearly he's his father's son.

I'm less cynical and I think you hit the nail on the head. They envision this mobile platform as an extension of the single user. Everyone should have their own sorta deal.

However, that is unrealistic. Yet I can see how they envisioned it.

I think that makes more sense with something like an iPhone or an iPod Touch. For the iPad, it makes more sense that multiple users might be using it, as I can see for many people, the iPad will be tied to a place (ie the living room) instead of to a person.

LOL that's hilarious. I'm surprised how there's no option to turn that caching off.

Hour 3 it's been on the truck for delivery. Starting to twitch.

Maybe, if you just have the WiFi version. However if you spring for the 3G doesn't that change everything?

Or just shows how easy the products are to use.

It's funny, he gets some computer time but not a whole lot since we want to make sure he learns to be active and enjoy that first before getting addicted to games and media.

Hey cool there's a Crunchyroll app to stream Anime!

And the Marvel comic book app is very cool. I wish they had a monthly subscription option.

Yes, 3g versions aren't going to just sit around in someone's living room, or else people are wasting the $130 up charge plus usage rates. But I bet a lot of iPads are going to replace laptops in people's living rooms - whoever wants to use it will just pick it up. If I get one, that's what it would do a good part of the time.

IT HAS ARRIVED

Very nice fed ex lady says that they have been ordered to work until they drop. She said I was the first on her route. Off to play ...

Fair enough. Where as if I got one. I'd envision it becoming a fixture in my courier bag.

(still eagerly watching out the window here...)

I can't even go out and grab some lunch, because I'm the only one here right now.

...still shows as "on FedEx vehicle for delivery", but there is a delivery exception - future delivery requested on the page, and the estimated date has changed from May 28, 12pm to May 31, 4:30 pm.

Should I be expecting it to come today, or should I call and see if I can pick it up at Fedex?
