Did they then fly space shuttles to the moon to try to drill through an Asteroid about to hit earth?

Larry King talked to Robert Kennedy Jr. who is representing the fishermen in Louisiana in a class action law suit against British Petroleum and James Carville about the incident at the Deepwater Horizon rig. Besides the problems with Halliburton and their faulty work with the cementing process and the lack of and the lack of an acoustic switch, Kennedy said they were also violating their permit by drilling too deeply. Although they were only permitted to drill down 18,000 ft., Kennedy said they now have evidence that they were drilling as deeply as 25,000 ft.
As Kennedy noted and Susie already wrote about here, it seems all they're worried about now is limiting their liability although the company is now trying to walk that back after the bad publicity.
The Democrats are introducing a bill to raise the liability cap that Kennedy also cited as a problem with their litigation. I think we're going to be lucky to ever get a penny back from BP or any of the companies involved but if BP violated their drilling permit as Kennedy claims here, it's going to make it harder for them to avoid responsibility for the disaster instead of pawning it off on the subcontractors

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

James Carville really let Obama have it yesterday for his lack of action.

Shares in BP PLC (BP) rose sharply Thursday as U.S. Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, who is overseeing the disaster response in the Gulf of Mexico, said the company's "top kill" maneuver had successfully prevented oil and gas leaking from the well.
Has anyone else been fascinated by the morbidly obese Louisiana fisherman that MSNBC keeps interviewing.

ABC News went underwater in the Gulf with Philippe Cousteau Jr., grandson of famous explorer Jacques Cousteau, and he described what he saw as "one of the most horrible things I’ve ever seen underwater."
Check out what BP does not want you to see. And please share this widely -- every American should see what's happening under the surface in the Gulf
I think they sensationalized it a bit but the point is there is more to see than what's on the surface to spin a pun.
I'm a diver and as such I consider myself a "friend of the ocean". This event is going to do massive amounts of damage to the ecosystem and F things up pretty badly for who knows how long.
However, I recognize our society needs oil and this is a reserve we've tapped into. I also recognize in all the years of gulf drilling this event is unprecedented. As such I want the drilling companies to look at their practices and to learn from this event to attempt to prevent it from occurring in the future.
I don't believe anyone - BP included - has claimed the dispersant will magically clean up the oil. The theory is it should oddly enough disperse the oil so it's not a massive slick along the top of the ocean. I don't believe they ever planned to somehow hoover it all up and get back to nice clean ocean.
I do have to laugh at the reporters comment about "risky and dangerous dive" or whatever it was he said. That dive was not risky in the slightest.
You would think they would have a back up plan in place for when the BOP fails. I also wouldn't be trusting BP anymore, good to see others there reporting this too.
