Wow, what a cool time for that map to be made. I live in Canyon Meadows, which is literally half there (on the south edge of the city, just north of fish creek) at that time, and my house JUST made the cut off. It must have been one of the newest houses built at that time.

That was something I would have loved to see! I believe it came here to celebrate the opening of the new terminal in 1977.

One of my biggest regrets is never getting to see the Concorde fly.

Does anyone know, does Calgary provide water/sewage services to Tsu Tina?

If they do they could always say "accept the ring road or bye bye calgary water".

Funny, I run into people I know in New York much more than I ever did in Calgary. Probably because Manhattan is actually pretty tiny, and nobody is driving a car when out and about, so you get more face time.

Same way that there are communities like "Tuscany" and "Haptons" and "Aspen Woods'......ie, bullcrap to get people to buy in.

My Mom, who was a born and raised Forest Lawnian, said it was named after a cemetery in Los Angeles, CA.

For the record, I agree. Just saying that eventually, but hopefully not soon, there will be another town/village amalgamated. I'm just interested to see which one it will be. It will depend in which direction Calgary grows fastest, and of course the politics associated with amalgamating another municipality.

Fun fact: Mt. Royal was originally called "American Acres" because at the time a high proportion of its residents were immigrants from the States.

I heard they tried that, and Tsu Tina just went ahead and built their own treatment plant for the casino.

Then they cut off the services (Police and Fire), which was fine until a brawl broke out and the RC's had to come from Cochrane......

I had a perfect view of the Concorde, with it's nose down circling the city as I drove over the Crowchild bridge. It was beautiful and amazing.

My dad was born in Calgary in 1911. I looked up the records and my grandfather who was a CPR yard foreman, lived on 4th Ave where the Harry Hays building now is.

My Grandfather also worked in the yards here and later for CP telephone in Winnipeg and Montreal.

My Dad worked for CP Rail his whole life starting out on the Fording coal line near Fernie during the summer and then to the head office in Montreal and we came to Calgary when the Head Office moved.

The asphalt has never been removed. If you look at a satellite image of the airport today you can still make out the old runways. They are completely broken up with grass growing through but still there.
