If you can foot the tow bill elsewhere, you could probably find a high school to donate it to for a mechanics class or something.

But it's not my car to giveaway nor is it on my property. It's on a City of Vancouver street. And private towing companies won't tow a car off a city street without consent fromt the city.

Have you checked what the bylaws state regarding abandoned cars on the road? Maybe you need to call Bylaw enforcement rather than the City of Vancouver or are they one and the same?

If you took a couple cans of spray paint and vandalize it, i'm sure more neighbors will complain about the eye sore forcing the city to move it. a little less dangerous than lighting it on fire (which would be awesome).

Break into it, throw a propane tank in the back seat and say it's a bomb!

if you've called in to the city i'm surprised nothing has happened
friends of mine bought a place a few months back and there was a car parked out front of their place.... it was the previous owners. they asked the old owners to remove it. after 2 days it was still there so they called the city (kelowna). later that day the car was towed.
oh... and worth... thanks for posting that link:

Not to derail this thread but I have to tell you guys about my Dodge and I how left it in front of some suckers house since February. I stay home all day across the street and watch the exasperation on his face as he isn't quite sure how to deal with it. In fact, I'm watching him pace back and forth right now.....

Rats. Call up the city and say you think you saw some mice or rats or something gathering under the vehicle and they may be nesting inside it.
In Calgary anyway, they're pretty slow to take care of abandoned cars (unless someone abandoned a car on your property) but as soon as there's a chance of vermin involved they take care of it very quickly.

In calgary, isn't it a law that if there's no plate on the street it's getting yanked?

So after pestering the City of Vancouver for nearly 3 months, they finally got the wheels in motion and put the Red sticker on the car giving the owner a 48 hour notice to move the car or they will move it for you. Well, 5 days after that notice the car is gone!! The Car is GONE!!! That just made my week, BUT.......this morning at 630am, my roommate noticed someone grab something out of the car, rip the red sticker off, lock up the car and go back into his house. The house he returned to was one of the houses we asked the owner as to whether or not he knew the owner of the car and he said NO.
So now I'm not sure if the guy saw the notice and moved his un-insured car himself, or if the city and came to move the car. Either way, I don't care, but I would like to know.
Anyways, THE CAR IS GONE!!
