I really hope not.
*spoilers in white below*
They ended with no real character growth or anything, or for that matter...any revelations or resolutions.. Which to me, just means that the closure for Bauer will come in the movie (if it ever comes to fruition). Jack's on the run now, great...he's been on the run before. I also understand it from the standpoint like...Jack will never get his 'release' from his life and work, but still...the way in which it ended, made it seem like the 8 seasons worth of hell so...empty.
But back to Battlestar...I'm debating ordering the big Bluray set, I love the show, does anyone have any feedback on the set? (I'm now going to go back through this topic looking to see if anyone has voiced opinions on it).

You have to admit the Newhart one would have been hilarious.

Yes, because of the existence of the previous show, it is better, but I still think "dream sequence" endings are the lamest crap every.

The "St. Elsewhere" ending also had the odd effect of making a whole bunch of other TV shows figments of the autistic boys mind, since some of the characters from that show have appeared as their same characters on others.
Someone did a big diagram of how all these shows are interconnected.

Dream sequence endings can be done well (Newhart, St. Elsewhere) or horrible (Dallas). There's nothing innately bad about the "it was all just a dream!" ending so long as the writers are clever about it (which they usually aren't).

Alright had a day to digest everything.
I liked the ending for the most part.. cleared up enough things to give some closure and left enough things hanging to keep it mysterious. Lots of heart string tugging.
Ended up kind of how I thought it would, though them finding Earth completely wiped out threw me for a while.
I thought it all wrapped together fairly well for a series that was written on the fly rather than mapped out completely from the beginning.
A bit surprised at how positive the ending actually was, considering how dark the series was at points.. I half expected them to jump into space around earth in 2010 and we nuke them out of existence.
Thought it was a bit heavy handed right at the end with the images of robots and the "angels" asking the questions, yes I think we got the message without having to spell it out.
Sucks that it's over now, and nothing to replace it with.

so what's the next great sci-fi series? i can't think of any that are currently on, and haven't heard of anything new coming soon. i guess there's Caprica, but it's not really a space show, more of a futuristic drama

beleive it or not Stargate Universe is quite good.
It is darker than the older style that they used to make.
I think they are going for a BSG style and I think it works.

I like SG:U as well. It's no BSG, but its still entertaining enough. It's also getting better as it goes along, so that's a good sign.

If you're interested . . . . Battlestar Galactica . . . . . "Where Are They Now?" feature at Entertainment Weekly.

They missed a few things, like Katee Sackoff now having a recurring dream role in "The Big Bang Theory'" new season. Hope she's in a bathtub like last time.

Tricia Helfer has also been quite busy with video game voiceover work. i particularly liked her and Michael Hogan's work in Mass Effect 2

Damn Katee looks good with long dark hair. On the other hand the actress that played Dualla looks positively ill.

Battlestar prequel Caprica gets cancelled:
http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/10/...ncels-caprica/
However, Sy-Fy has announced a new prequel mini-series, Blood and Chrome.
According to a press release from Syfy, the network has just greenlit a new two-hour pilot for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, set ten years into the first Cylon war (which would place it about four decades before BSG). The pilot centers on a young William Adama, played by Edward James Olmos in BSG and an adorably annoying child actor in Caprica. Right now, it’s still just a TV movie that might become a series…

I only could watch one episode of Caprica, it was terrible. Blood and Chrome sounds promising.

I liked Caprica but it was definitely cerebral, largely devoid of significant action . . . . . and for the sci-fi crowd that's probably not good enough.
Hence the second stab at a sequel, this time with some shooting. I would think it would do a lot better.
I would think it might be based on those web-only Battlestar mini-feature prequels featuring a young Bill Adama being shot down over a planet and finding a Cylon lab experimenting on humans.

Wasn't a Caprica fan either. Gave up after about 3-4 episodes. It was interesting to see how the Cylons came to be, but it just didn't have enough excitement to it for me. Hopefully Blood and Chrome will be better.
