Not going to lie... This game kind of disappointed in me... Find myself getting bored of it...very fast.. It seems like I'm doing the samething over and over again... For example... Tumbleweeds - Save the girl from being Hung... then next moment I'm back at Tumbleweed saving the Sheriff...... same building.. just shooting a bunch of guys again....
Anyone else find this... I'm hoping the game gets better.. the father you get into it.

I'm loving the game, but I'll have to restart, as I've had a few glitches that have wrecked the game for me a little bit. I bought the EB Games version which should give me the outfit to refill my dead eye meter faster, but I can't get it in the game. First of all it sucks that you don't just get to wear the outfit, it just unlocks it so you can go do the missions to actually get it. Then, I did all the missions, had the 5th mission done (with the box checked off, so yes, did both parts) actually for a long time before I found one of the earlier ones. As soon as I completed the last mission I needed, it said the 5th mission was no longer completed, and took the check out of the box, and since I'm far advanced in the story I don't have the option to replay it. So that sucks. I also missed the whole beginning of the story (I think there's one anyway), as the game was loading, froze, then for about a second a picture came on and a blip of music, then it started loading, and I was thrown right into the game.
Anyway, other than those couple annoying things it's been great, and I won't mind starting over.

The game is fun but a few observations:
- Riding a horse/stage coach/train just isn't as much fun as the cars in GTA. The crashes, jumps and high speed never got old.
- Dang Rockstar games always make me dizzy after a little while
- Online was fun but I don't think I am playing properly. I just go around on a donkey for a half hour and shoot random people. No one seems to shoot me. I accept an invite to join a posse but nothing ever happened. Only right before I was about to turn the game off did I see a stand off and a shootout. That was fun. Am I missing something, or is there more to online play than riding a donkey and shooting people along a path? I guess I need to team with people.
- I can't believe people found the treasure. I received my first map and saw 2 rocks and said f it, I'm never going to find it in a world as vast as this one. I'm quite impressed people were able to find it. I never would.

I find the Treasure Hunting hard as hell. I bought the Brady books walkthrough guide to help me out. I don't consider it cheating, but its a nice handy guide.

I bought the guide as well mostly because I like to get the Rockstar ones because they are meaty with lots of info and structure to help truly experience the full game. Can get easy getting lost in all the options.

Yes but you're a pretty bad video game player despite all the practice!

I've found all the treasures.
The multiplayer in this game is pretty bad. I load a free roam lobby for 3 minutes, then when I get there it says "You have connected issues with another player", then it kicks me back and tries to load another free roam but it never stops loading. I have literally waited 30+ minutes loading another free roam stuck in that red screen with the revolver going around.
Then when I do connect, everyone is invisible and everyone just plays like a 12 year old dick shooting me when I just want to play with my friend.
Not to mention I can never play the proper game types.
It is ridiculous how terrible it is. Just like GTA IV (which I could actually play online), the multiplayer for this game was hyped and raved by reviewers, but it is actually terrible beyond words.
Maybe if Rockstar would just do multiplayer properly and put some menus ala EVERY GAME OUT THERE EXCEPT ROCKSTAR GAMES.

Regarding treasures you'd be surprised how often you accidentally run into them. A lot of them are either near huge landmarks or have random events that take place next to them.
Also Rockstar still sucks at female character modeling...they look nothing like their concept art.

My only multiplayer experience consisted of me being killed two seconds after I spawned, ten times in a row, by the same guy. He had a rifle and I had a pistol so I was pretty much defenseless.

Practice? When you are this awesome, you don't need practice!
My ADD doesn't let me focus on one mission, that's why I have the guide.

Got the Legend of the West outfit earlier, some of those Hunter challenges are a real pain in the ass.
5 Skunks + 5 Raccoons take a long time to find.

Yeah, that one was tough. Eventually you have to kill a bear with a knife though which is even worse.

I had trouble with the dueling at first as well, after reading this it got much easier.
Quote:
I thought I would put this on here cause I had the same issue as a lot of people. I spent a bunch of time last night dueling so here's my two cents.
The biggest key is the BLUE AND RED BARS on the side of the screen. If your blue bar is smaller than their red bar, you lost no matter how many shots you take.
Drawing first gives you a boost to the bar but apparently less accurate shots. Letting them draw first gives them the boost but your shots are more accurate. I never noticed any real difference in accuracy. Draw first to get the little boost to your bar.
When it says draw, use L2 or down then up on the RS. This will bring up the cross hairs for you to target them. Now you move the RS to where you want to shoot them. You can paint them with the RB or the RT, it works both ways. Now WATCH THE CROSS HAIRS, they will flash red to white...red being not a good shot or no shot at all, and the smaller and whiter they are when you paint them, the more accurate the shot and also affects your blue bar, so watch the bar when you paint the target.
You don't need to unload your clip either, if you want to do one shot, just do one shot but the key is that your blue bar has to be larger than their red bar with that one shot. Paint the targets, watch the bar and then just wait for the dead eye to end, and as long as your bar is bigger you win.
Disarming them gets you like 100 fame and 200 honor. Just target their shooting arm and that usually fills your bar pretty full.
Hope this helps...just feel free to add comments and enjoy dueling. One more thing, easy way to build fame and honor with dueling is this. Get the Elegant Suit from Thieves Landing so you can cheat at poker. Find a low buy in game, usually 10 bucks. Attempt to cheat and let them catch you...instant duel. Disarm them in the duel and there is your 100 fame and 200 honor. Go back to the game and repeat.

i did find that poker was a great way to start duels. i got the elegant suit and figured that cheating at poker sounded interesting. i am god awful at cheating, so it causes me to get in lots of duels. for some reason i never even thought about shooting their arm to disarm them...

I was playing poker and it says I had the suit to cheat at poker but I don't know how to use it. How do you activate it? And do you have to do to get into a duel over poker? I haven't been able to figure those 2 things out.
I played the Grab Bag game online and that was fun. This game is getting better as get into it and can lasso.

First make sure you have the right suit on for cheating at poker.
You cheat at poker by pressing Y or triangle when it is your turn to deal, you grab a card from the bottom of the deck. During the sequence it is important you just tap the joystick in the right direction, don't hold it or you will be caught for sure.
After you have a card up your sleeve you can exchange either of the 2 cards in your hand for that card, hit Y and move the joystick left for the left card or right for the right card. I found myself using it all the time, always upgrading the card up your sleeve.

the one time i was successful at getting the card off the bottom of th deck, it was the 2 of spades... was pretty disapointed and never came across a good time to use it!

doesn't matter what card you grab out of the deck. if you get a 2, then swap it out for a higher card on your next hand (like if you get dealt an ace and don't have a use for it after the flop). i'm up to $3000 now from playing a few hands of poker in Mexico by cheating

yeah definitely realize i could have swapped, but with how awful i am at cheating i was sick of getting into duels over it, so i just sat happily with my 2
