So yeah, it actually does come close to municiap water standards, cause it is.

It can get contaminated during their bottling process.. but yeah Aquafina water quality likely depends on the region it is bottled as well.

according to the Aquafina website, it is public water that goes thru 4 different filters, is UV irradiated, undergoes reverse osmosis and is ozonated to kill bacteria

So let me get this straight.
They filter it through coffee filters, shine some lights on it, send it through a fish filter, stir it up a little, then sell it for 300x what tap water is?
I'm in the wrong business.

Brita on tap water... even though that's probably bad for you too.
Bottled water for me is only drank out of convinience, I will never have a bottle over tap at home.
Ie/ When I am in my car in a sketchy part of town I'll buy a bottle rather than drink from the sink in the bathroom.

meh, Same thing could be said about the $5 'gourmet' coffee from Starbucks, or a meal in a nice restaurant. People pay for conveniences or luxuries.
I use tap water for coffee, tea, soup, ice cubes etc, but have a handy bottle occasionally for the car, office or gym. 12 cents for that convenience isn't going to set me back

I drink the fresh dew off the grass during the early morning hours. You'll often see me outside on my hands and knees licking someones lawn.

I hate tap water, and yes I can taste the difference.
Sorry but I'm keeping the Culligan.

How about the big jug waters? So the $4 for 17 or 18L? I buy those and use it in my water dispenser because I like having hot / cold water at my fingertips without needing to boil it or take it out of the fridge. So that is around $0.22 per litre, which I think is ok. I'm not sure how clean that water is, but it does taste better than tap water IMO. Maybe it's just psychological.

Just tax the heck out of it if it's such a problem. The government could make a killing and put that money back into municipal water systems, research for cleaning water and water conservation programs. If it's that big of a deal, tax the so called foolish people who insist of buying it, wasting resources and filling landfills and put the money to use.

I would rather see a tax on highly processed water (excluding beer of course) and see tap water more readily available through dedicated fountains and bottle re-fill stations. Call me a germaphobe, but I need to be pretty desperate to fill my water bottle in a public bathroom.

Could you imagine telling people from 20 years ago that you paid 3 dollars for a litre of water?
They would be scared less of the future.

I buy bottled on occasion simply because I'm too lazy to refill 24 bottles from the tap in the mornings sometimes, would rather spend the 6 bucks. Plus the bottles get all soft after awhile and need replacing.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is being found in foods/drinks that have been kept in plastic containers. With the considerable health risks associated with harmful chemicals leaching into our food and drink, it is important to have a source for safe water containers.

I don't like to drink tap water. I find filtered or bottled SPRING water the best. I don't drink the reconsituted tap water that some companies sell as bottled water.

The Brita filter haters will say that you have to make sure you refresh the filter often enough or else you are poisoning yourself with all of the crap it has been filtering for you.

I've never tried, but i think you could soak the filters in very salty water to reactivate the charcoal and the ion exchange resin

Once it dawned on me how much energy and waste goes into bottled water I avoid it now as much as I can (not that I drank it much before). My fridge has a filter on the water dispenser but that's mostly to get rid of the chlorine smell which seems quite strong out in Chestermere.
