Hmmm...got Mali and Mauritania mixed up. The "istan" countries were a bit of a gong show though.

Agreed. It should have been:

Got most of the newsworthy countries right. I used to know the entire african continent back in University.

Is it wierd that I found that activity really fun?

I failed.... miserably! Dragged Iran/Iraq/Afghanistan around a lot before I matched them.

At least I spelt miserably right.

If you know where Iraq and Afghanistan is it sure makes sense where Iran is.

being surrounded by the US makes you understand why they want nukes.

Ha, that was great. It's actually fun to go back and do it a second time and see how much you remember from the first round of guesses.

That took me about half an hour. I used to be good at this kind of thing, but after an effort like that, I don't deserve to live.

I got all of them on my first try, blindfolded.

Then I created a database with all of the countries on the entire planet and again while blindfolded, labelled all of those too.

I mixed up Qatar and Bahrain and got the rest easily. Couldn't remember which small island was which.

Now for the mother of them all. Can you name all 193 countries in 15 minutes?

http://www.sporcle.com/games/world.php

I think my record is up to 189 now. It's really difficult to look at the map when you're almost done and figure out what you could possibly be missing. You can also practice on the continent-specific quizes in the geography section of the site.
