Default LF: Car Stereo Soldering

I have an MP3 stero that after 3 1/2 years it seems that when I use a 3.5mm cable to plug in my ipod into my stereo it sounds like it is only coming out of one speaker. I have to giggle the cord to have full sound whereas with headphones it works properly.

I've been told some minor soldering is the solution but I don't know how complicated this is. Must you remove the stereo to do this? Anyways, if you know much about this please pm me.

If its the 3.5mm jack on the front faceplate, by the time you pay the tech $75/hr you might as well go buy a new deck unless the whole thing slides out of the chassis (which I don't think it will).

I don't think it slides out. So you're saying there is basically no way to fix it?

I could look at this for you if you can bring the car to my place. It is probably just a loose cable where the mini converts to RCA into the deck. $40 and a six pack (that you can help me drink while we fix it) and we should be able to fix it in an hour. If it is soldering, I can fix it and show you how to do it in case you ever want to try it in the future.

If ytou don't want to pay someone try getting the deck out so you can see the wires and look for the loose connection. Turn the deck on and wiggle wires (specifically the ipod adapter wires) until the sound may cut in and out on the second speaker. Follow the wires and you should be able to find your problem.

What type of car?
What make/mpdel is the deck?
When do you want to do it?
