Don't most people put their iPhone into some sort of protective sleeve the moment they get it? I don't really understand the need for them to bother with different colours.

I've heard June 21st. I've also heard AT&T employees can't take time off in late June because of this iPhone coming out. (No word on who Gizmodo bought that info from.) US dates of course, but I imagine Canada will get it at the same time. We got the 3GS same time they did, I believe.

Nothing's official til Apple 'announces' this thing anyway.... which I think is supposed to happen during the WWDC June 7-11.

iPhone HD announcement will be made during the WWDC keynote.

The 3G is officially dead. No more sales pretty much anywhere. You can get the 3GS for $99 now, or should be able to soon.

I have a case on mine, but it's clear and from any sort of a distance you can't actually tell there there is a case. It just protects scratches and such.

I heard this from a friend as well. I wonder if they'll keep both 16GB and 32GB 3GS iPhones after the new one is out - and what the full prices will drop to.

Me too, but it'll be worth waiting for two reasons:

a) cheaper upgrade price
b) getting it when you order/buy it without having to be a homo and wait in line.

I just got the 3GS in December. I'll probably still upgrade to this one but I might wait a few months.

I think you'll be waiting a little more than a 'few months', unless you don't want a subsidized price point.

Depends on the carrier. With Rogers you have to wait two years after your last upgrade.

I don't think any of the other companies are any better, though.

Be glad your wait is only 'till August! Mine is April 2011, MAYBE a few months earlier if my bills are high enough but no guarantee.

I'm curious as to what reasons you all have for upgrading. I assume the majority of you have the 3gs, so what benefit does the new iphone give you?
Are you simply a techies that has to have the latest gadget?
need the larger harddrive? front camera? better resolution screen? is the 3gs too slow for you?

Maybe I'm missing what all upgrades this phone will give over the 3gs, but to me the extra cost and the added time on a contract doesn't seem worth it for any of the upgrades it gives you.

Can't speak for anybody else, but I don't have a smartphone at all. Just an old Samsung that's at least three years old. I got an LG Neon last year and lost it three months later, so a coworker gave me this one.

I just want *an* iPhone. I've wanted one since the 3G. If I had a 3GS, I wouldn't be thinking about the upgrade.

When I think about it, I probably should have upgraded to an iPhone instead of an LG. But I was too poor/cheap at the time to get that+data plan. Still, I get the feeling I would have looked after it more closely than I did my lost phone.

good to know. I talked someone out of buying a 3G the other day and waiting until the 3GS comes down in price. I am sure they will thank me soon..
