Toronto's attendance would also improve as they become more competitive. Toronto also has a history with Philadelphia and Atlanta.

Interesting suggestion. Though I think attendance will go down because when NY and BOS come to town, that's when the Jays make their money (which is why this year those games are at a premium). It would hurt at first as the Jays would lose a lot of revenue, but may be better for the game. I personally don't like the idea of pitchers batting. It's only humorous the first couple times, but really they don't even try and it gets really boring when the 8th guys is walked to get the 9th guy who happens to be the pitcher. The art of having a pitcher bat is long gone and really should be taken out.

Tell that to Dan Haren.

With that last HR by Lind, the Jays have hit 6 dingers but still trail 8-6. Encarnacion has 3 Home runs tonight.

Methinks Eveland is heading towards a DFA.

This is the Dana Eveland that I watched all the time when he was with the A's.

he is having a lot of trouble keeping the ball low. He looked like a great find his first 5 games. Now he looks like a bull pen option that could only hope to be a brian tallet (as sad as that is to say).

Encarnacion is making me forget about Rolen with all these dingers and above average defense with that improved throwing motion.

Top o' the 9th, can they do it?

The reality is that Eveland is not as bad as he was today or when he plays the Red Sox but he is not as good as what he was early in the year for the Blue Jays. Very inconsistent pitcher who will stick around big clubs because he is a lefty and has flashes of being a really good pitcher. Like I said when the Jays first picked him up, he is just a nice arm to have around just in case. If you start relying on him too much, he will let you down.

I feel like with Eveland there is basically no upside to making him a regular starter, he just doesn't have good enough stuff to do anything. If you're lucky you end up with 7 or 8 wins and a 4 and a half ERA. When that's the upside you've got to look elsewhere.

Litsch is almost ready and was looking good in Dunedin but he got blown up bad in AAA yesterday. Hope he hurries back, I don't want to watch another 2 innings/6 runs of Eveland floating in high pitches around 87/88 again.

That Bastian link within the story has some nice comments from Eveland. Despite the fact that he sucked on field he seems like a class act.

I think 7-8 wins and 4.50 ERA might be half the MLB's starters but that is Evelands career year and your best case scenario. I don't think there are too many other regular starters in the league with career ERAs around 6.

Wonder who is coming up from Vegas.

I believe Purcey is coming up until Tallet is ready to go.

They'll skip the next Eveland-start because it's an off day.

I'd like to see Tallet come back as long as we're still in the race. He was integral to our half-success last season and having an entire staff of "young guns" might be trouble.
