I didn't read the whole thing. Did they ask you to PayPal the money to fbi@gmail.com?

This thread would be so much funnier if my mother wasn't in the midst of a scam. Fortunately she's not out any money...

My brain is just completely shutting down trying to parse that number. Eight and a half million o'clock dollars?

O'clock dollars are worth 20% more, due to there being 12 hours, vs only 10 numbers.

You'd be surprised at how many people still fall for these things. It's a very lucrative business.

I got one in the snailmail yesterday, which seems a little strange to me. It had a stamp from South Africa on it. If I act within the next seven days I get a crack at 25% of 118 million bucks (and who can't use 50 million, give or take?) .

That's a good point about how the terrible English in them might not be detected by people who don't speak English so well themselves. Perhaps a rule of thumb should be "discard any mail, e- or otherwise, that is in CAPSLOCK."

Scammers are such scumbags. Money can be so much better spent than for this. Why, just the other day I received an email asking me to donate money for research supporting the cure for rabies. I graciously donated $150 and so should all of you guys.

I got a scam like this in the mail yesterday too. It was from some guy named Rogers. Something about, "Please pay the following amount before the 20th of June to keep your mobile phone account in good standing."

Whatever, I just tore it up and threw it in the garbage. It's the only way to deal with these scams.
