I don't even know why people get upset at the Coke Stage lineups. They've been mediocre and disappointing for several years now.

Ten bucks says BNL bails when they figure out the coke stage is actually the coca-cola stage.

OK Go is great. They're probably the only ones i'd make an effort to go see on that list.

Yeah I never get this, its like people expect to see bands that would sell out the dome with their $12 admission ticket. But then again complainers with complain about anything and I bet most of them will still be there.

On that bands, I saw BNL at the Jubilee last month and it was great, I will try to make that one.

Has anyone been to a Crash Karma show before? Do they play older stuff from the IME/Edwin/Edwin and the Pressure days?

Doc Walker and Default were the bands.

Crap to the power of 10.

Was Honeymoon Tiger not available? Frozen Blonde? Platinum Suite?

They've been playing one track from IME, OLP and The Tea Party. Usually it's been One More Astronaut, Clumsy and Fire in the Head.... but apparently they've mixed it up once in awhile.

Default is the most fitting name for a mediocre band ever. OK GO kinda intrigues me, but it's not like I'll go outta my way to see them.

I had to stop caring about the coke stage a few years ago when I realized that any band with any kind of notoriety will bring out a crowd that could crush people to death. The last time I saw a band (and by saw, I mean walked past the venue) was Collective Soul a few years ago. It looked like one of those soccer riots where people are crushed up against fences and stuff. The venue is just not great for anything that draws more people than the hypnotist.

The coke stage is good for niche bands - like Biff Naked a few years ago. I never would have bought a ticket to see her or made the effort to go see just her, but I like a lot of her stuff so that's the day I went to the Stampede and rolled her show into it.

Any word on whether they're bringing Terry Stokes back? Man I love that guy. Never get tired of his act.

GWAR at the coke stage would be an absolutely amazing sight. Maybe next year. Or at folk fest.

I separated my shoulder crowd surfing at that show. It hasn't been the same since.

Usually the Coke stage has one or two decent bands - I've seen Moist, Big Wreck, Collective Soul, Matthew Good, Live, and a few other really good bands there. The Moist & MGB shows were pretty close to the height of their popularity too, and yes, it was a zoo there. Those crowds can be really unsafe. This year's lineup is pretty meh, but BNL and Glass Tiger would be worth a look.

Keeping in mind that it IS the Coke Stage, am I the only one who's impressed with the line up? I mean it's not like it's U2, REM, and The Beatles, but for as craptacular the stage has been... the lineup isn't all that bad.

Looks better than last years lineup... But not quite as 'impressive' as 2008:

2009
Seventh Rain
Marianas Trench
Hinder
Saving Abel
Eva Avila
Devine Brown
Carley Rae Jespen
Serena Ryder
The New Cities
Simple Plan
Inward Eye
The Trews
The Ending
Thornley
Terri Clarke
Karl Wolf
Elise Estrada
Kreesha Turner
Daniel Wesley
Bif Naked
Johnny Reid

2008
Seventh Rain
Faber Drive
illScarlet
State Of Shock
Tupelo Honey
The Trews
Rides Again
Hedley
Lifehouse
Finger Eleven
Art Of Dying
Puddle Of Mudd
BC/DC
MerQury
Jully Black
Natasha Bedingfield
Derek Ruttan
Dierks Bentley
Social Code
Plain White T's

If GWAR even made it to a public venue in Calgary, I would be there in a heartbeat. The Coke Stage lineup would be rescued 10 times over.

And if GWAR showed up at Folk Fest? I'd rent a helicopter and watch the carnage ensue from above.

Great! Another lineup of people I've never heard of, with a couple of boring exceptions. I wonder who does the research that tells them these are bands people want to see?
