Default Help, Laptop Crash-a-roony happened, now I need the info from the Hard Drive moved

Hello CP,

I have a laptop filled with personal gems, unfortunatley I have tripped over the power cord enough times to ensure that the machine will no longer take a charge and does not turn on. I have just purchased a new laptop and I would like move the info from the old hard drive to the new computer.

A. How do I do this?
B. I am a computer idiot - does somebody here know how to do it?
C. Recommend someplace for this to happen.

Help CP your my only hope... I need the photos of my druken friends, otherwise my blackmailing schemes will be worthless!

Cheers!

take out your old hard drive and buy an external hard drive cage or adapter

hook it up to new laptop and it should show up as a separate drive letter

go to memory express and explain your situation exactly like you did here they are very helpful and will get you setup or can even do it for you for a fee of course.

The new goggles also do nothing.

The external enclosures are $25 or so:

How hard to remove depends entirely on the model of laptop. Most just have a panel you take the screws out of and pop it out, some are harder.

There's not much to screw up. Hard drive removal is about the easiest PC mod to do. If you don't want to remove the HDD, you could always just get an external drive, or even a large USB stick, depending how much stuff you're moving over.

Provided the hard drive is perfectly fine this should be an easy do it yourself.
