Well I just bit the bullet and put down $100 for this:

Should serve as a nice, expensive tissue for when we inevitably go out on penalties.

I have found some nice Adidas German Jerseys for a decent price. My old Klinsmann and Ballack ones might need to be retired.

www.onestopshirts.com has some good prices if you're willing to sacrifice authenticity. I'm kind of anal when it comes to authentic gear, but apparently their stuff is decent quality.

That site will actually customize them for free as well, so you can have a number on the front.

I didn't get a number on mine because the only players I'd want on it would be either Lennon or King and I don't know what numbers they'll wear yet.

Anybody interested in a World Cup Prediction game? Predict every match. 3 points for a correct result. 1 point for correct outcome. Points go up as the tourny progresses? Any interest?

This is going to cause certain individuals some considerable problems. Personally I think it is long overdue.

I don't think that this will affect the English that much as I don't believe any of their primary penalty takers stop their run-ups. I was thinking more along the lines of the Portuguese, Spanish and Italians as being the most affected. C. Ronaldo, as we all know, loves this maneuver.

I'd love to see someone try it and get a yellow card. That would be fan-tastic.

World Cup terrorist plot foiled:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/0...html?ir=Sports

An alleged al-Qaida militant detained in Iraq said Tuesday he had talked to friends about attacking Danish and Dutch teams at the World Cup in South Africa next month to avenge insults against the Prophet Muhammad.

Messi will lead the World Cup in goals! After all, he did have 47 in 09/10.

As for picking a winner, I just want a country that plays an up tempo and entertaining style i.e. Brazil, Netherlands, Spain, Ivory Coast, etc.

Hopefully teams like Italy and Greece don't do well for that same reason.

I don't like Italy but they're pretty entertaining these days. They score alot of goals in 2006. Serie A is super high scoring lately. Their defense this time is not any good so they might not have any choice but to go forward and score more!

Messi won't score a goal

I agree that Greece is super boring, so are France and Switzerland.
North Korea will play with 10 defenders.

Add Portugal to that list. I don't think I witnessed two more boring qualifying campaigns than France and Portugal's.

Portugal's awful qualifying campaign and lack of scoring had nothing to do with their style of play. They were just brutal in the final third. But they still have the ability to pass the ball around very nicely and showed signs of playing a very entertaning style of game. Putting Portugal's style with Greece and Switzerland is laughable at best.
