I am thinking about buying a new car, and I kinda like the look of the new Scion tC. Are these sold in Calgary anywhere?

I'd love to take one for a test drive.

Nope, I have looked too becuase I wanted one of those as well. Although, I did see one of the "mini-vans" the xB last month.

They are owned by Toyota, so if you go to a Toyota dealership, they may be able to bring one in, as long as it conforms to Canadian safety standards.

edited for the glaring grammar mistake I made.

Charlesglen Toyota (whom i hate) had a number of Scion vans for sale as late as 3 months ago. I believe they must have brought up an entire shipment?

It is weird though, because i have only seen one driving around the city since...

I hate that rule. I think it is 9 km/h though. That rule is keeping the Evo in the states... for now anyway.

My understanding of it is a car cannot sustain any damage in a 9 km/h crash test. Any car that fails that or any other test, cannot be sold in Canada.

That is correct. (Thanks for correcting the speed as well).

For this reason many cars with front mounted intercoolers fail these tests. The SRT-4 is the only one I can think of that passed (Maybe the PT cruiser turbo as well, not sure if it uses a FMIC).

The STi passes becuase Subaru puts a brace in the front end protecting the intercooler / turbo from damage. Makes you wonder if the buyer is willing to modify the car to conform to Canadian standards, if they will allow the importation of said vehicle. I highly doubt it though.

Subies use top mounted intercoolers, thats what the scoop is for.

And yes, you could do that but you have to give them vehicles to do full crash testing on I believe, plus pay for it all. Not even close to worth it.
