I have a general steam question. If I made my account on my Mac and downloaded a paid game (torchlight), can I login in with my PC and play also? Do I need to buy it twice? If I uninstall it, can I redownload for free?

If it has the SteamPlay logo, then you can play the game on either system. Just log into the same account on your PC and you should be able to download the PC version of the game there.

We went ahead and ran a timedemo from test chamber 18 and beyond on both the Mac OS X and Windows versions of Portal. We kept the settings cranked up at all times, but varied the resolution between 1280x800 and 2560x1600 to look at different GPU loads. At the worst-case of 2560, the Mac version of Portal runs at only 54% of the speed of the Windows version. That moves to 63% at 1920x1200, and 66% at 1280x800.
Doesn't really matter for Portal as it's not particularly intense graphically, but this might be bad news for other Source games later.
Lol, Source is one of the lightest engines out there too, you can run benchmarks where other modern engines get like 30fps and Source will get 200fps. And it's usually CPU bound too, less dependent on the video card.
