Law & Order has been homocided

after 20 years and one less than needed to surpass Gunsmoke, NBC has cancelled Law and Order.
I agree that this show had grown tired and many don't watch it anymore but I'm saddened that such a tenured show won't have a proper finale. It looks like it's just been cancelled with the regular episodes as filmed.
It's too bad that Jerry Orbach died a few years ago, it would have been good to have him or Noth reappear for one final time. Too bad Claire Kincaid is dead too, she's the only assistant DA I ever liked. Ben Stone would be another good one to have reappear.

Lots of good shows have been canceled this year. I still enjoyed Law and Order but it was time.
I was surprised that Mercy got canceled as well, I thought it was a fairly solid show.

Dick Wolf is threatening to pull all the shows and move them to another network.

It's all about SVU now. I actually didn't know they were still making new shows of Law and Order.

Law & Order was worth watching for Alana de La Garza alone.

Good.
It should have been cancelled 10 years ago.
I used to enjoy the show, but it has far outlived what is should have.

Law and Order: Los Angeles? Ugh, their probably going to turn it into some lame Hollywood cheesefest like CSI....
This grinds my gears man. I love this show.

I think the problem with the show ended up being all the cast changes the last 5 or 6 years. Many of the changes were not good. But, I think they had finally settled on a good cast that had some great chemistry and the show was starting to get better again. It's too bad it got cancelled IMO.
It would have been nice to see them bring back a lot of the characters for a goodbye episode. Especially since Michael Moriarty is apparently sober and could actually contribute.

I LOVE Law & Order -- the best crime drama ever. I used to even watch reruns on Bravo! (from the early 90s) because I hadn't seen all those of episodes.
NBC is the crappiest american network (and has been for awhile now). The only shows I watch are Law & Order, SVU and 30 Rock (and occasionally SNL).
RIP Jack McCoy

I'm a long time Law and Order viewer. I'll admit while I haven't watched it much since Jerry Orbach died and Jesse L. Martin left (Ed Green). They need good chemistry between the police officers and they never replaced it IMO. Too bad though, one of my all time favorite shows.

I've always been a fan of Jeremy Sisto, so I think I'm one of the few who likes the current version of the show. I far prefer the L&O model to the silly CSI stuff.

Law and order has been falling down hill for awhile now, but every recent season has had a good episode or two.
IMO SVU has been moderate to laughable for longer then it has been good.
I also grew up with L&O, and the worst part is not having a proper farewell. The same thing happened with Lenny, so I guess it is apropos. I always wonder how well Trail by jury would have done if Jerry Orbach didnt die so suddenly.
My all star line up:
AD: Adam Schiff
Executive ADA: Jack MacCoy
ADA: Paul Robinette & Clare Kincaide
CO: Donald Cragen (before he got weak on SVU)
SD: Lenny Briscoe (HM: Max Greevey)
JD: Rey Curtis (HM: Mike Logan before he got sex and the citied)
Other: Emil Skoda
Anyone seen the law and order movie? I have'nt seen it in awhile, but remember liking it.

I really like Law and Order. One of the few shows with decent writing and plot lines. This has fallen off some the last few years but it's still head and shoulders above any other American drama. I liked that it was done in New York, it seemed more gritty without the Hollywood glitz.

I wish NBC would commission a law and order movie to give the show a final farewell.

I would like a Law in Order show that gives the perspective from the bad guy.
And the police run around like the keystone cops.

They're doing that with Heroes, but I guess with three other L&O's on the air they can get away with it just fine.
