The city should make this a historic building, make it into some kind of wrestling museum. Would hate to see it torn down to make way for condos.

I went by the open house yesterday. Great work put into the house, but it still has a few of the old touches - the dungeon has been upgraded, but kept a bit of the old equipment. The kids' names are still written on the brick walls around the place.
Beautiful view of the city from the top floor and deck!

Sold at $1.5 Mill in 2004 to asking $4.95 Mill now? Wow. Pretty good investment for that guy if he gets anywhere near that. I'm sure he put a lot of money into it, but i'm not not anywhere near 3.5 mill.

Actually, it is rather historical. The type of people that have been trained in that house span North America, Africa, Europe and Asia. Some of the world's best wrestlers were trained in that basement, and having made something of themselves and their respective regional industries because of what they learned in that house. You'd be surprised at how respected that place is in many parts outside of Calgary. It's legendary to some.

Yeah, it'll also be one of the quickest demolitions after purchase in history too. No doubt the next buyer will level it and replace it with mega-condos.

I might be mistaken but isn't it a Provincial Historic Site with protective status?
Or is it just on the Register of Historic Places with no status?

No special status that I know of.
That was the big panic when the Hart family sold it - they didn't want someone to buy it and level it.

Why would the last guy spend so much money fixing it up then?

knowing what we know, reading the words "Chris Benoit" and "blood, sweat and tears" together just made me shiver a little

It would sure be ironic if Mr. Burns bought it.
