On the name in the MiB, here's a theory I'm thinking about that is clearly wrong as all my well thought out theories are:

MiB's name will be Esau, akin to Jacob's twin brother in the Hebrew Bible.

From Wikipedia
Quote:
According to the Book of Genesis of the Hebrew Bible, Esau (pronounced /ˈiːsɔː/) (Hebrew עֵשָׂו, Standard Hebrew Esav, Tiberian Hebrew ʿĒśāw; Greek: Ἡσαῦ) was the fraternal twin brother[1][2][3] of Jacob (whom God renamed Israel)—the patriarch and founder of the Israelites.[4] Esau and Jacob were the sons of Isaac and Rebekah, and the grandsons of Abraham and Sarah.
However Esau was born first Jacob second.

Mind you,

Quote:
The Bible depicts Esau as a hunter who prefers the outdoor life, qualities that distinguished him from his brother, who was a shy or simple man, depending on the translation of the Hebrew word "Tam" (which also means "relatively perfect man").
Exactly like Jacob & MiB in the last episode

A few more points:

- Esau was entitled to inherit the wealth of his father Isaac after his death
► MiB was the one the mother favoured and wanted to protect the island

- The New Hebrew Testament says Esau carelessly threw away his birthright
► MiB turned his back on his mother to be with the people on the island

- Esau is furious at Jacob and vows to kill him
► see Season 5 finale

- Esau was a rebellious son
► was was the MiB

That said, MiB's name will really be "Steve" or "M Diddy"

I guess I'll be the guy to say that I loved that episode. Fleshed out the mythology very nicely, you could tell it was an episode they had planned since day one. I think everyone's expectations for this show were too high, there's still plenty of time to answer some of the remaining big questions, but I don't expect everything to tie up nicely, Lost is too gritty to let that happen. I also liked the finales of seinfeild and the sopranos, everyone wants these characters to hold hands and walk off into the sunset, but that strongly contradicts what the characters and the shows were all about.

I think the mother possessed both the qualities of Jacob and MiB. She thought MiB was suited to watch the island, because he inherited her mystical gifts and will. Jacob ended up being the right guy because he inherited her sense of duty and faith. The light was pretty much what I expected it to be, the island clearly possessed mystical energy and that's pretty much what it was.

The only answer I want now is, what is Jacobs game and how does it end? Besides once, I know it only ends once, everything else is just progress.

I just want to see it end with Jack and Locke sitting on the beach playing that game. And Locke looking at Jack and saying "You have no idea how much I want to kill you"

And we see a cruise liner in the distance.

If I get that ending, I'm happy.

No sciencefictiony Locke trapped in the energy.

Or dead

This just seems like a game that should continue through all time.

I'd be ecstatic with that ending. If not a cruise liner, a boat of some sort, could be a cargo-liner, could be a fishing boat.

Your post reminds me of the Joker's last scene of The Dark Knight
Quote:
The Joker: Oh, you. You just couldn't let me go, could you? This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You are truly incorruptible, aren't you? Huh? You won't kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness. And I won't kill you because you're just too much fun. I think you and I are destined to do this forever.

There's already been unconfirmed speculation that they may just be his name from Dark UFO

To me that would just tie everything up in to nice of a bow, I think we actually will get a lot more answers then people are speculating but the ending will def be open to discussion and theory

I think we will get a similar ending, except replace Jack with Hurley.

If I was the MIB I would try to off myself in the cave of life if it was Hurley that I was going to spend a million years competiting with.

Hurley - "Good morning dude"

LockeMonster - "Errrr good morning"

Hurley - "Dude want some breakfast?"

LM - "Um you ate all of the food on the Island yesterday, all thats left is this jelly bean and four pounds of polar bear crap"

Hurley - "You gonna eat that jelly bean dude?"

LM - "STOP CALLING ME DUDE YOU FAT PIECE OF CRAP, ITS DUDE THIS AND DUDE THAT FOR THE LAST THOUSAND YEARS YOU'VE BEEN CALLING ME DUDE! I MUST KILL MYSELF"

Hurley - "But you don't have a name dude"

LM - "CRAP"

Hurley "Don't be hatin dude"

LM - "Richards right this is hell"

So sad that Lost is going to come to an end in a few weeks. Very few shows, or movies have been as thoroughly gripping as this show.

While some of us may be dissapointed with resolutions, and "answers" at times, that is only because we care about what happens.

I know I for one have made sure to watch weekly, like many others have. No other show in a long time has forced me to follow it like a zombie.

I only watched the premiere because I read about how much is cost ABC. I didn't have any expectations going in, and assumed I wouldn't watch past the first episode (which is what happened with "Happy Town").

After the opening scene I pretty much knew I was going to be aboard until its resolution. Everything about the show is just so well done. Whether it be the characters, the storyline, the acting, or even the music you just know the staff cares as much as many of us do.

Of course not everything has, nor will resolve itself as we had hoped. But, I for one can forgive a few faults.

I also wanted to share to this day what my favorite moment on lost has been. One of the most well done scenes in television history. The 23rd will be both a sad, and hopefully an epic day all in one.

I thought it would be fitting to post the first 8 minutes of the first episode.

At the 5:08 mark my favorite scene.

I thought Locke would turn about to be Satan (or something like that), after this reveal in "Tabula Rasa". I was close...

I am a fan of the show but seeing this again makes me remember how much more I liked the early seasons than any other. The great characters with the outstanding backstory flashbacks had me tuning in every week just to see who'd be featured next. Plus the thrill of the unknown was great.

The biggest problem I had was with every character suddenly becoming John McClane. One day, a gun was found and its dynamic was controversial as some people were apprehensive about having it. It was an honest reaction because I would think most random groups of strangers would think it to be a pretty big deal for there to be a gun around. Then, it just seemed like overnight that everyone was an experienced marksman, all willing to pull the trigger at a moment's notice. Did Jack spend a lot of time at the shooting range in between surgeries?

I dunno, it just bugs me when normal characters become action stars. Maybe I'm the only one who wouldn't point a loaded gun in someone's face so easily.

Weird rant, I know.

Looks like Jack will be battling Locke next week. Tonights show was good, I enjoyed it. Need to sit on it for a while and think about it though.

Any insights?

Great episode, looking forward to the finale, kinda sad to know it will be the last one though.

This series definitely needs a re-watch

Its interesting that Locke wants to leave the Island, but he wants to destroy it to. If the light is life and everyone in the world has a the light in them, then if the Island is destroyed then all life would be snuffed out.

But that begs the question, that at the start of the season in the alternative reality we see the Island underwater, so why are they alive in the alternate reality?

Jack is the winner, or loser, depending on your perspective.

Ben's redemption lasted a day, but I have a feeling that he's going to betray smokey in the end.

Anyone else have a feeling after Jack woke up bleeding that the realities are going to merge, and the merger point is the concert?

Ben's betrayal this time was motivated by his desire for revenge on Whitmore who had Alex killed. This was a secondary goal for him, and I think his true intentions are still to be seen.

I'm now beginning to think the side reality is pergatory of some kind. It might make sense with the whole "letting go" thing. Maybe everyone who has died on the island is in this place. I know it's corny and obvios but after the whole "light" thing, I wouldn't put it past the writers. Why Jack is there, if he is supposed to live on as the next jacob? Not sure maybe he dies later.

I'm now positive next week will see the alternate universe and the island come together as one. not sure about the logistics of it but it's going to happen.

I still think Ben will redeem himself even one more time but it was obvious he was acting out of revenge especially after Miles had another one of his "visions" and reminded Ben about his daughters death.

All comes down to that concert next week
