All Blizzard games are (and have been) released simultaneously for the Mac and PC. In fact, it's not even different boxes... they use universal disks that will install either version.

At Blizzcon, Blizzard said the Mac version would be released after the PC version. This may have changed.

Mac beta for SC2 supposedly begins today:

Oh that's interesting. That would be a bit of a shift from they're historical launch methods.

You're just starting Diablo 2 now? You won't start playing D3 until like 3 years after launch. haha

Diablo 3 is the sole reason why I am buying a gaming PC, but I'm holding off until buying one until next year when it's released, and when I have money.

5850 and i7 930 is a small possibility, example being that the 5850 xfx with 2 year warrunty was just 270$ last weekend compared to the normal 330$. and there is a US store taking a hit on "in store" buying for the 930 from time to time

Unless it is a lot cheaper, I wouldn't buy a 5850 with a 2 year warranty? XFX offers double lifetime warranties.

Man, I didn't realize that the i7 processors were so expensive. I'm having a really hard time keeping the price at around $1000. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm beginning to favor the idea of using an AMD processor instead of an i7 just to keep the cost down. I don't think the performance penalty would be too noticeable if the machine is being used mainly for gaming...

I'm never sold on buying the latest and greatest for computer stuff. You often lose money in terms of value and depreciation later on. Don't be afraid to build a system based on used parts or the last generation processors.

I ended up with a really cheap system that can do anything I want it to just by going with a 3 year old used Q6600 quad core @ 2.4GHz and overclocking it to 3.6GHz.

You don't really need an i7 for gaming at the moment. Most games are not CPU bottlenecked, you'd be hard pressed to find one. The videocard is your most important investment if gaming is your priority.

pardon me your correct, i crossed that info with something else i was reading beforehand. xfx's value is because of that lifetime warranty. same price

not getting the newest tech is a fine suggestion as well. If you choose to go with the i7's and other new parts, hunt out cheap deals with the given webistes in order to start cutting down cost
