Default Acer Support Problem

So I have a laptop that I gotta send back for warranty. Acer just emailed me the service request number, and where to send it too, but they didn't give me any shipping information like their Fedex account number.

I tried calling technical support, but I can't get through. Or their stupid computer automated response doesn't understand it.

How could I possibly get on the line and talk to a real person so I can get the information?

I think the way Acer works, is you pay the shipping up front and if it turns out to be a problem not caused by human error (ie: it's water or physical damage), then they reimburse you the cost of shipping.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the way their warranty works.

If you need to raise hell with higher ups, Consumerist usually has some good contact info. I've had to use this method once with a different company and it went pretty well from there.

Laugh. First RMA ticket?

You have to pay for your own shipping.

Yeah, first one with Acer.

They weren't clear on the phone, and considering how hard it is to understand their technicians I figured I may have missed the account number or something.

So I have to pay my own shipping?

You pay to send the item back to them, and they pay to return it to you. Pretty standard in my experience.

Actually, I thought they said COD. But who knows. Technicians from India are hard to understand.

I've never had an RMA with any company aside from Nintendo where I did not have to pay for shipping back to them.

Canada post is the easiest. They give tracking numbers for all packages even regular mail ones.

Well they don't advertise it very well.

Either way, I sent it off with a Fedex guy that comes to a car dealership in town. Called in my reference number and paid with my credit card.
