Wow, Jesse Lumsden released by Edmonton.

Running back Jesse Lumsden's stay with the Edmonton Eskimos has come to an end.
The club announced on Wednesday that they released Lumsden.
“This is disappointing on a number of levels," Eskimos General Manager and Director of Football Operations Danny Macocia said in a statement. "Jesse has worked hard to rehab the shoulder but he does not yet have medical clearance to play football.
|
So he must have been competing injured at the Olympics.

He should go where there already is a back in place. He obviously can't handle a full season so 1B would be the best scenario for him.

Yeah, somewhere where he could split time with someone might be ideal.

I would think Lumsden is finished, he should retire.

How does Sandro feel about that? makes me laugh. Sandro, the all-time best percentage kicker kept trying but no one asked him to come down and this rookie out of a Canadian college gets a tryout.
Nothing will come of it and he will be back with the Stamps but he already got closer to the NFL than Sandro ever did.

Sandro was interviewed on the Fan 960 when he signed in Hamilton and they told him straight up it was because of his size. Don't ask me why kickers size matters but I guess it has something to do with their leg length or something along those lines. He said he hit about 98% of the kicks he was asked to but that didn't cut it.

I disagree with you there Oz. Yeah, he had a couple of big fumbles, but he was consistent. Always positive yardage.
Not to mention the fact he played as a DB a Receiver and on ST. He knew the whole Stampeders playbook. He played both DB and receiver last year and was always on special teams. Takes a pretty talented and smart guy to do that.

Happy to see JR LaRose back in the league after he suffered that brutal injury. He signed with BC.

Ever since Howell got hit hard one season, he wasn't the same anymore. He was good a few years back but that one big hit really scares him after. Yes he was consistent but consistent 3-5 yards return and the only time we gained more yardage was because of the penalties. He was rarely use as a DB or a receiver so basically his contribution is mainly as a punt returner which was so frustrating to watch.
I would definitely not miss the guy. The guy that I will miss is Summers doing a kick return. At least he is a threat out there when he is doing return.

He was consistent on PR but that also included the fact that he consistently would not break one and give the team a boost on special teams.
With the big field in the CFL I would much rather a return man that is a threat to score and can change the game with a big return than a guy who consistently gets 15-20 yards.

OUr top two picks are now officially signed.
Taurean Allen. He looks like he could be a rare non-import starter in the secondary. Team with Fraser, our 1st rounder from last year I am intrigued.
