Default Probably easy question about a blackberry

I've got a blackberry that has Telus written all over the box, but my current phone is with Rogers, am I out of luck keeping my number and contract? Do I have to switch to Telus to use this phone?

depends on the model I think, if Rogers has the same phone available I am sure you can just take it to them and get a new sim card

Which Blackberry is it?

Chances are it's a CDMA model and cannot be used on Rogers.

All branded phones are locked to their carrier. Furthermore, since the Blackberry is Telus-branded, it will be a CDMA phone which means it is not unlockable.

Telus will only accept their own CDMA phones on their network.

Edit: Sorry, I just looked into it a bit more. The Bold 9700 that Telus sells is both CDMA and GSM. If that's the one you have, I would give Rogers a call and get them to help you figure out if it's GSM or not. Even if it is GSM, though, you'll still need to get it unlocked before you can use it.

PS: The Bold 9700 is a really nice phone. If I wasn't using the one I am now, I'd be using one of them.

Can I sell it then? It's the curve I think. I'd use it if it wasn't a hassle to get set up. Right now I'm using the free phone that came with my plan three years ago. It's got amazing flip technology

Ah. If it's a Curve, then it's definitely CDMA. It'll only be usable on the Telus network.

I'd list it in the Buy and Sell section here. The Curves were nice phones. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone here snatch it up if it's in good shape.

I believe the Tour is also dual mode CDMA/UMTS.

At any rate, you will need to get the phone unlocked.

It's still in the box, never been used, never been opened actually.
