Eston, Saskatchewan. Home of the World Gopher Derby. And a statue of a giant gopher.

Twickers! Also known as the Twickenham Stadium - the home of England rugby - also Harlequins RFC have their ground at the end of the road I lived in for the first 12 years of my life. Spent 22 years of my adult life in Thames Ditton - famed for featuring in a Monty Python sketch.

Let's see.....birthplace of Martina Hingis, plus it has the oldest running marathon in Europe, and the best ice cream I have ever tasted in my whole life. That's about it though....

Wolf Point, MT, home of Montana's oldest rodeo, the Wild Horse Stampede. It's also home of the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame.

For you comic book geeks, it's also the birthplace of Marvel's Red Wolf.

I currently live in Billings, MT, which is apparently 200 miles directly south of Calgary in some bizarro world.

Sure about that? Unless there's some serious skewing because of a lack of curvature, it doesn't seem to be.

But in the end they all seem to have heard about the stampede.

Yeah, it's more or less a southeasterly direction.

Ah ha, didn't catch that one I guess!

I always use the phrase "on the other side of the Rockies from Vancouver".....and if they are still clueless, "It's like Denver or Salt Lake City, but north".

Hartnell also lived in my hometown growing up before he moved to Lloyd. His Dad was my principal in Elementary school.

Hooray!
That 5-way stop is so ridiculous. Whenever I go to Lacombe, I always avoid it if I can.

Calgary is obviously known for the Stampede. Some of you may have heard of it.

My city is mostly known for the Ronald Regan Library, but people still remember the first Rodney King/LAPD officers trial was held here. We were regularly targetted, four about 5 years after the trial, for racial violence every time there was a high profile trial that produced any sort of racial tension (even OJ's trial). Militant minority activists labelled us as a "white town" and had a grassroots effort going to burn our town in the next riot.
