Hughes isn't really "crazy" per se, he's just trying to bring his issue to attention, which he has done.

Now Alnoor.....eeeeek

Nope, I always thought it would be fun to run a campaign based on the communist revolution.

Fiery speeches, banners, militants marching in the street. Then when they lose the election . . . well DANCE DANCE REVOLUCION

Maybe Oscar Fech will run again. That would satisfy my desire to see a complete wingnut run for the mayor's seat.

Just noticed in Bell's article about Kent, Kent basically called out McIvor and DCQ

Quote:
"For better or for worse, council has become a dysfunctional place in the eyes of Calgarians. What they’re doing right now, when a decision is made, is most of them are running outside to quickly call members of the press and throw someone under the bus.” “It’s now a culture of who are we going to blame for this decision so we can save our own hide and score a few political points.”
Ha, finally, someone who gets it. "Dude's a baller."

Too bad ol' Bronco isn't running again...

Would've liked to see him lose...or at least bypass his name on the ballot to vote for someone else.

Imagine the scrutiny of growing up with the name Kent Hehr, I bet he either learned how to kick ass or grew some thick skin over the years.

^I read somewhere (I think it might have been an old thread on CP) that Kent's father's name is Dick.

Ya, it was on CP. His mother was a long-time teacher at BP Junior High.

Not surprised you are very much in Hehr's camp, Slava, though I would say McIver is the perfect Liberal: we know what he is against, but we have no clue what he stands for.

Actually, Hehr seems the best of the bunch so far.

Interesting Kent Hehr running for mayor. I thought he was more destined for the federal scene with his focus on crime. I'd like to see a guy like him run federally. He'd make a good Minister of Justice. Hopefully he has that in mind for another day.

For those who don't remember, Kent was shot in a drive beside shooting, thats pretty cool in and of itself.

Anyone remember why he was shot?
Wasn't it a case of mistaken identity?

OMG! Are you saying that we might support the same candidate here? Maybe you just want him gone so that you guys have a shot at Buffalo?

No, he was shot in a totally random act. Car pulled up beside him and some friends and the guy just shot at them. He was hit in the neck. Pretty sad in the sense that he was an average 21 year old at the time; playing hockey going to school to be a PE teacher. Kent has accomplished more in a wheel chair than most of us who are fully able-bodied though. I find it very inspirational!

When someone finds a link to Hehr's platform, please post it. I'm sure it'll be another couple days, but just to get the request out there.

Glad to see people getting excited about a mayoral candidate for once, havn't seen enthusiasm for these races since Bronco originally ran.

I defiantly won't be voting for Naheed Nenshi. That jerk gave me the lowest mark I have received in 4 years of school in my marketing class.

Mwa ha ha.. payback is a b*tch.

I expect a full platform to be released in another week or so. I saw the other posts regarding some issues that I could probably answer, but figured that once the full platform is outlined I would leave it to that.

As a general gloss over though I can tell you it's very centrist. It's focusing on smart and prudent growth.
