If there is one thing I'd love to see at any sporting event, is a streaker. How can you not want to see that? There is something so immaturely funny about wanting to see a grown overweight man running around naked.

So the cop catches this kid and squashes him, maybe breaks a bone or two in the morons body, and every personal injury lawyer out there is approaching this kid to sue.
Plus who knows what this kids intentions are, is he out for a good time, is he going to go stabby or gunny on someone. Put him down in the fastest way possible.
|
That's what is wrong with this country. If you're doing something illegal and get hurt in the process you shouldn't be able to sue. For christs sake people have been breaking into houses and slipped and fell and sued the home owner and won in this country.
It's a joke. The tard deserved to be be blasted with the juice. I was kinda hoping that he would hit him a couple of more times with the juice just so we could get a close up of this kid loosing his bladder control.

You need to go see a doctor.
Now if it was a naked smokin hot female say Megan Fox I could be happy.

In the "old days" the police would beat you with their batons. I would say being tased is safer, and you recover a lot sooner.
If you jump onto the playing surface you take your lumps.

OK...got it.
At any rate, I found this study on the use of these things and i have to say they should use them more often if the numbers have remained similar through the 3 years since this study was announced...
Quote:
In a review of nearly 1,000 cases, 99.7 per cent of those subjected to a Taser had mild injuries, such as scrapes and bruises, or none at all. Only three subjects (0.3%) suffered injuries severe enough to need hospital admission. Two had head injuries suffered in falls after Taser use. A third subject was admitted to a hospital two days after arrest with a medical condition of unclear relationship to the Taser. Two subjects died, but autopsy reports indicate that neither death was related to the Taser.
|
I would suggest getting decked and/or tackled by a 230 lb cop would cause more serious injuries than these things do.

There were 45,000 witnesses and who knows how many cameras recording this incident. If that cop goes up for police brutality, it'd be because he was policing brutally.
In related news, just today I read this...

The Canadian Press
OTTAWA — The Mounties say that from now on they will fire stun guns at people only when they're hurting someone or clearly about to do so.
Accused of relying too heavily on Tasers, the RCMP introduced new policies Tuesday to restrict their use to nipping violent confrontations in the bud.
The revamped operational manual says officers should limit Taser use to incidents in which a person is "causing bodily harm" or will "imminently" lash out.
Bob Paulson, an assistant RCMP commissioner, said the threshold is more specific than the previous one, defined as "a threat to officer or public safety."

If this were to happen at a Blue Jays game, they wouldn't be zapping the guy. Running around waving a shirt over your head wouldn't be considered "causing bodily harm" or "imminently" about to lash out. I hope.

Really? And then what happens to the cop when someone who can run faster than that person, runs out on to the field and attacks a Jay's player?
I hope you'll be the first one he sees in the hospital when he wakes up.

Unlike the cop, the Jays player could potentially run at the speed of a 16 year old kid.
Seriously, the taser was supposed to be a weapon used in place of a gun. As moronic as this kid may be, delaying a baseball game because you can run faster than some overweight cop is NOT grounds to be tasered.
That being said, this was Philadelphia, so the probably had the same intelligence and qualifications as some of the Saskatchewan fans mentioned earlier in this thread. Said cop probably though he'd be handed the key to the city.

Uhh, what?
I honestly don't know what happens in this hypothetical and unlikely situation you've cooked up in your mind.
We are not talking about a hypothetical situation here. That guy on the field was obviously just a drunk kid pulling a dumb stunt. He was running around in the outfield waving a towel over his head. Who exactly was in danger?
And before I get the "I don't know what he was going to do", that's true, I don't. But I know what I saw, and I know what you saw. And what I saw, and what you saw, was not dangerous.

See who in the hospital? Whoever it is, I'm sure they'd much rather see friends and family when they wake up, and not some stranger like me.

So...because the cop was overweight he gets ridiculed? If he was thin and tased the guy would it be ok? The focus shouldn't be on the weight of the cop, the focus should be on the person who went where they shouldn't. If it takes tasing someone as a deterrent then I'm all for it. You run onto the field, you should expect to get taken down by any necessary means.
I believe in this country we're so wrapped up in the "tasers can kill" idea because of the Vancouver incident we fail to see the product is used daily without incident. Heck I recall seeing video of the Taser booth at the Consumer Electronics Show where they seemed to tase anyone who volunteered. I can't imaging the company would do that in the sue happy US if they felt there was a chance of an incident.

If you run on the field of play, officials have the right to do whatever they need to to protect the players - including tazering, illegal chop blocks and flying round houses to the head.
As a fan, I didn't come to the game to watch a moron run around on the field of play trying to get attention (and although there are some professional athlete morons - they have a uniform on and are supposed to be there). If hot chicks which to drop their gear - I have a different opinion, but who's to say tasering hot naked chicks wouldn't be cool.
As a citizen, I am happy to have law enforcement officials that dole out punishment by using excessive force and put the fear of god into other idiots that might think to act like anarchists.
