I was scrambling Mt. Baldy on that piece that's about 20 yards long, and only a couple feet wide with a few hundred metres straight down on both sides. A gust of wind blew through the channel, and took my hat. Completely by reflex, I managed to grab my hat, but completely lost my balance. My buddy was right behind me to grab me, or else I was done.

Dumbest thing I ever did:
I once sold a olds 442 convertible that I found out a month later had a special W-30 package on it that only about 500 had been built with.
I made a little money on the car but the guy who bought sold it a year later for 10x what he paid and nowdays that car can be worth upwards of $1.5-2.0 million
It still bugs the crap out of me.
Most embarrassing thing and close to life ending was my wife pulling a pair of chicks underwear out of my back pocket. (thankfully a buddy bailed me out and called it a gag)

Wait.... so it actually WASN'T a gag?
I think you've left out the most interesting part of the story, Mr. Hoover.

When I was nine-ish I didn't know how to swim all too well. I decided to take my life jacket off, cause I though after an hour of jumping off the diving board that swimming was easy. It wasn't. I think I got to the side of the pool, finally, by the time the lifeguard got off the phone with his girlfriend to adress the lunatic pounding on the viewing glass. That lunatic was my dad, watching his son drown...
I have a near death C-Train story as well. When I used to work at the Chinook Sport Chek back when it was the converted Safeway, my parents would drop me off at North Hill C-Train Station. We lived in Thorncliffe at the time. I'd bring a book, or music, or something for the ride. I miss my train, I'm late for work...
I see the train already stopped at the station by the time we pull into the parking lot. I look both was to cross the street. Safe. Run accross the street. I hear the C-Train engine, so I bolt across the tracks. Get in the C-Train and sit down.
Thats when I look out the window and see the train heading in the other direction, which wasn't there before. Give it one of those 'huh?' moments, then think about the situation. I call my mom's cell phone, and ask "Did I almost get hit by that train?". She said if I ever pulled a 'stunt' like that again, she'd throw me in front of a moving train.
I guess I was inches away from the front of the incoming C-Train.

When I was around 7-8 years old I used to watch TV in my parent's bedroom since the only other TV in the house was in the living room where they watched. I loved to jump on the bed like a maniac during commercial breaks and discovered that jumping up and landing on my back was completely awesome. One time I was a little too far up on the bed and on my way down smacked the back of my head on the solid wood headboard of the bed.
I was writhing in pain on the bed for a good 15 minutes I would say - quietly though, for fear of getting in trouble.
Also, I was told when I was much younger, I drank a good chunk of my mother's nail polish remover.

When I was in the army, I decided to exit a helicopter far too early, thankfully I fell 40 feet into a huge snow bank.
I was out at my cousins house shooting rifles by the grain silos. I didn't trust my cousin so I decided to walk behind the silo and come out on the other side which should have been a safer spot to watch from. When I came around the corner he had walked over to see where I had gone, I walked stomach first into the rifle barrel, my cousin didn't have the safety on, lucky for me he had taken his finger out of the trigger guard.
I was showing off for a girl in elementary and decided to hang upside from the monkey bars. While she was watching, I hung upside down on the bar that was still wet from rain early today. I slipped off and fell the 5 or so feet pile driving myself head first onto the gravel pad knocking myself unconcious, busting open my head bleeding gallons of blood. I missed a week and a half from school with a major concussion and the I scared the poor girl half to death.

I once had a one night stand with a girl who was a tried and true Satanist.
I didn't find out until a couple of days later.

That combined with the handfull of other concussions that I've had probably point to the fact that I have trouble remembering anything including my pin numbers to my bank account, names and my own address on occassion.

Was cliff jumping last summer and I tested a higher cliff. I hit the water and naturally did an arc under water. My back scraped the bottom bad enough that I still have a pretty mean scratch 9 months later.

Back in the early 90's I almost became a Canucks fan due to family pressure.
Close one!

A few years ago I (an Oiler fan) decided to check out the Flames fan site. Not only that, but I've been a semi-regular poster.
Whatever was I thinking? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

One night a long time ago, after a heavy night of drinking at the Whiskey, me and buddy decided to go buy some bottles of Corona and toss the beer bottles at parked cars while l drove (stupid, l know). My passenger side window did not roll down, so he had to hang halfway outside the car with his door open. I don't know why l thought this at the time, but i figured l would get as close to the other cars as possble while i drove by them so he could have better aim. Remember...his passenger side door was open...
So the very first truck is comming up, he's hanging out the side door bottle in hand. I weave as close as i can to the parked truck, and the bumper of the truck smashes into my open passenger door. Immediately after that happened l remember thinking why the F would you drive so close to a parked car with the door open...IDIOT!!!! My friend must have seen it comming last second, because he ducked in and the door literally shut around his head. I watched him actually grab the door handle and open the door. I pulled over and immediately thought l had killed my friend. He was groggy for a couple seconds, then starts yelling at me "GO! GO!" as someone came out of the house after the noise. Yup, pretty stupid thing to do.
