Wow even down to the scar and the awful hair, they got him down to a tee(minus the alien look in his eyes in the first one.

Yup Cedric Griffin tore his ACL on the kickoff to start overtime against the Saints. Ain't no way he's ready for opening day, so Sheppard will fit in quite nicely. And when Griffin is back, I can't really complain if Sheppard is the nickel back.

You will. Sheppard has been garbage for the last few years.

Can't be worse than our previous acquisitions of Todd Pinkston or Billy McMullen.

Jason Campbell traded to the Oakland Raiders for draft pick.

A lot of love out there for KC's draft.

Seattle's getting high ratings too...got the best OL for their needs, and still had the 2nd best S there at 14. SEA confirmed they were going to trade down if he wasn't still there.
Then Tate at #60 for a big play guy.
Filled a CB need in Round 4.

In Rd 6, McCoy, a USC TE who smoked up before the draft to drop his ratings in the 6th round.

Add in Lendale White and Leon Washington for virtually nothing and Mike Williams signed to a tryout deal, and SEA did pretty good.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell with some comments in regards to the current way of paying Rookie contract.

http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/04/25/good...wasting-money/

"I think over these three days, we will give $600 million in guaranteed money to these rookies that you’re hearing their names. $600 million. And if let’s just say half of them don’t make it and the money is equivalent to this, that’s $300 million out the door. It doesn’t go to veterans, it doesn’t go to owners. It goes to somebody who couldn’t play the game. That’s wasting money.”

It is a bit of an issue in the NFL. A lot of veteran guys who had to play for cheap rookie contracts and make it, still don't earn very good salaries on their second contracts because of the money teams tie up on rookies.

Oh Jamarcus, maybe you should move to the OL

There were reports from optional camps that he showed up at 290lbs... I would be surprised if this report was deemed untrue.

What a mess.

I had heard that my favorite player did indeed tip the scale at 3 bills last season. But at the offseason camps he was rumored to be back down to 271. The problem was that his body composition was pretty poor so he was too slow and too easy to get to the ground, and pretty injury prone.

He is a big guy by stature and can carry like 265 so long as he's pretty lean.

I think the biggest issue is that his team mates don't see him as a leader and he's not a guy they can get behind. The guys knew he wasn't working very hard last year and as a result they didn't care to work too hard around him. When the Raiders used other QB's last year they would play pretty hard. Even with JaMarcus they usually started out player pretty hard, but if they fell out of a game early JaMarcus would throw in the towell and the rest of the team would follow suit.

I wonder if the Raiders can use a "unfit to perform" clause (if hes really tipping 300 lb) to release him and get their money back?

As Al Davis calls it, fired with cause.

Well he's not 300 pounds but the Patriots have released LB Adalius Thomas. Him and the hoody were at odds with each other last year so this is no real suprise. I would look for the Jets to have interest in him as he was a pretty good player in his days with the Ravens on Rex Ryan's defence.

Alan Faneca is joining his former OC in Arizona. He has signed a one year deal worth 2.5 Million. http://content.usatoday.com/communit...in-cardinals/1

ohn Clayton just said on ESPN’s “NFL Live” that the Raiders are preparing the process of cutting quarterback JaMarcus Russell.

Clayton said it is not a matter of if, but when Russell will be cut. He also said the team could release Russell before Oakland’s minicamp, which runs Friday through Sunday, and that there is no trade market for him. The Raiders will save more than $6 million if they cut Russell this year.

Come on Al. Give the man another couple years to figure things out under center for the Oakland Raiders.

Undrafted Tight End Scott Sicko created a bit of an internet stir when after not being drafted he claimed that he wanted to pursue more education rather than sign as a college free agent.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=090...s&confirm=true

Had a change of heart and signed with Dallas. I see the idea that teams may be in love with their own draft picks and favor them over a college free agent. But as a college free agent you also get a bit of a choice as to where you go whereas if you're a 7th round pick you don't. If he was willing to try a NFL career as a 7th round pick though, I do think he should give it a shot as a college free agent.
