Can't wait for the new one. I've always been a fan of the show but never really watched it besides the odd, random time(pretty much just crack out on them online during study breaks the odd time or something). I definitely didn't make a point to watch it every week. But after the first 3 episodes this year, its officially become Must-See TV for me. I can't wait for the new one tonight!
I can't believe this is season 14 and the show's still this good. By this time the Simpsons had been stale for about half a decade.

No way he just said that.
LOL Episode was awesome!
The best part was when the lights were turned on and it revealed "chili", I burst out laughing knowing Scott Tenerman would be the leader.

I like this commentary. Good piece on freedom of speech.

It reads: "We have to warn Matt (Stone) and Trey (Parker) that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show."
The website posted a graphic photo of slain Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh, who was killed in 2004 by an Islamic militant over a movie he made that accused Islam of condoning violence against women.

If anything happend to Trey Parker and Matt Stone, this group should be held responsible and face crimiminal charges. Actually, they should face charges right now for making terroristic threats, but the FBI has said it is rare that they prosecutre for threates made over the Internet.

Anyone else find it ridiculous that people are willing to make death threats over a satirical cartoon?
I cannot believe some of the insane things that "extremists" get upset about. Such a waste.

The thing is they are not actually saying anything offensive to islam. They are specifically offending the extremists. The Van Gogh and the "cartoons" equated islam with persecution of women and terrorism. South Park doesn't seem to be doing that at all.
It is also hillarious how they go out their way to make the other religious icons be as offensive as possible. The Buddah randomly snorting coke, and Jesus watching internet porn were both pretty funny.

I find it funny that the only people who ever get upset enough and make threats are Muslim extremists. Speaking religiously, it makes no sense. By the rule of Islam you cannot harm another human, nor make threats, so I find it outrageous that they call themselves "Muslim Extremists".
Buddha snorting coke and Jesus watching the porn was awesome, I love how they push the line as far as they can.

Speaking as someone who has seen every single episode of south park, this two parter has been such a payoff for the long-term fans, taking the biggest loose ends of the series and tying them all together in a way that was unexpected and brilliant. They even crushed pip to make it clear that we'll never see him again.
Pro tip: Comedy central did most of the censoring on that episode, so I think the comedy network will air it on sunday with a lot less censorship.

Read the Koran (and Hadith) sometime, this isn't always true. Like the Bible and Torah there are both commandments of peace and mercy coupled with commandments of bloodshed, violence, and oppression toward non-believers.

I just watched it, I can't believe Comedy Central bleeped out all the last monologues and the moral of the story. I don't get it!!!
Quote:
A Statement from Matt and Trey
In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it.
|
It doesn't even make any sense, what could possibly be in the content of those monologues to get them removed? That was ridiculous. Why don't Matt and Trey just release the written scripts?

I sort of took it as the monologues being beeped out WAS the joke, perhaps that statement is a joke too?
I dunno.

I too thought the bleeps were part of the joke. It didn't make any sense. Comedy Central you pansies. I hope they air it COMPLETELY uncensored on Sunday.
