Heart of the Angels order got to Marcum a bit there, lets see if the Jays can rally a bit! Weaver has looked really good though thus far.

Jays making a game of it! Overbay ends the rally by striking out but four runs in the bottom of the 8th.

Overbay is seriously struggling. Please keep Ruiz in the lineup.

Eveland struggled early but has calmed down. KC up 3-2 after Wells homered for his 7th on the year.

who knew that Wells' new batting approach would yield these types of results? I think they are nice for now, but I'm sure reality will set in some way that brings everything back into perspective. This team will be better when hill returns. I say they sit bautista and play McCoy at third and have him hit leadoff.

even if Wells hits .280 hits 25 HR and 80 RBI or so, I'll be satisfied with that. Anything more than that is just gravy.

I flew out for today's afternoon game, ran into Vernon Wells in Starbucks early this morning. marcum going for the sweep today, should be an exciting game.

I have read, its the first time in awhile that Vernon Wells is 100% heathly, hopefully he can return to an All Star type Centre Fielder.

I predict that "E5" is placed on the DL this weekend, Bautista will continue to play 3rd.

This move allows the Jays from being forced to send down one of McCoy or Ruiz. I would guess Ruiz is the guy that would go down if E5 does not go on the DL.

Advanced defensive numbers say he's still been a below average fielder this season. Of course, it's only 15 or so games in so it's not exactly a great sample size. However, even if Vernon can be a below average fielder it's a huge step up from being one of the worst fielders in the game that he was the past couple seasons.

Either way, Vernon's injury's were primarily in his wrist. I doubt we'll see any huge improvement in his fielding - especially considering the guy is now getting into his 30's. The Jays as an organization really need to recognize that Vernon's not a CF anymore. With the amount of time left on his contract, the Jays simply can't afford to be hampered by his poor defense because they don't want to upset Wells by moving him to a corner.

Didn't Wells have a lot of Groin issues over the past couple of years too? This link says 2008, and another year of healing can definitely improve things there.

Sorry but Wells has always been a above average CF in terms of defense, the element that was missing from his game the last few years was not his defense but its his offense (Average, HR, RBI, On Base percentage etc)

Sorry, but you're wrong.

Vernon has been putrid in CF the past two seasons.

It could be.

He was actually pretty good in the field in 2007, but had a dramatic drop-off in 2008 (which continued in 2009).

Groin issues, unfortunately, are something that can plague a player for his entire career once they start.
