It will be interesting to see what the Chiefs do on Thursday. Kansas City Star writer Kent Babb tweeted the following quote from Scott Pioli.

Quote:
"Branden's our left tackle. WE haven't spent a lot of time playing him at other positions."
Maybe it is smoke and mirrors. I can see the Chiefs looking for a DT if the right one is available at number 5. If not I see them trading down to try and pick up LB Rolando McClain. Most speculators have the Chiefs bypassing Berry because the belief is that you can get a quality Safety later on the draft.

Did you watch the Pioli Presser on the Chiefs web site? He didn't rule out taking any position except kicker that high. He did say that they liked their offensive line and that it did get better. Pioli is actually a pretty good speaker and although it was 35 minutes, I thought it was worth listening to.

Jason Taylor agrees to 2 yr deal with the Jets... Now what do the Jets do in the draft? I say maybe trade up for Earl Thomas. That's my dream at least.

A few things that have leaked.

Season opener Thursday Night game is Minnesota at New Orleans on September 9th.

The Bills will play the Chicago Bears in Toronto on the 7th of November.

All games in week 17 will be intra Division games.

I like the week 17 Division games, I'd even be in favor of making week 16 that way too. Even if the game is meaningless in the standings...Division games always mean something to the teams.

So this means Favre waits and comes back in week 2?

As for the divisional games in week 17, since 2002 the Saints have played a divisional foe every year but two. No big change there.

Goodell turned into a tweeting machine for a bit today.

And I find interesting all the rumours that are flying around. I don't think you can trust a darn thing that has been said publicly in the last 3 weeks.

I missed that. In truth I don't have time for that kind of stuff. Unless I could download it as a podcast? I'm sure Josh would have that available.

Yeah, I was hoping the Chiefs would play in Seattle earlier than the 28th of November. Looks like I'll be taking the family to Seattle for a weekend of post Black Friday Christmas shopping.

Well For the second straight year the Seahawks don't get a primetime game. I know they suck but with the amount of Thursday/Friday/Monday games every team each could potentially have a primetime game each year. A bit disappointed.

Sweet stretch week 3-6 for the Broncos. Should come out of that firmly in the toilet.

No 4-0 prediction this year?

I predict 2-0 and then it's a gongshow for a few weeks.

Steelers not ruling out the possibility of trading big Ben.

Quote:
It is not believed the Steelers are actively seeking to trade Mr. Roethlisberger, nor are they close to doing what they did with Super Bowl XLIII MVP Santonio Holmes, who was traded for a fifth-round pick to the New York Jets because the team was planning to release him anyway.

Nonetheless, the possibility Mr. Roethlisberger could be traded, provided the price is right, is not being discounted by the team

Roethlisberger gets a 6 game suspension that can be reduced to 4 games for good behaviour....

As per Mort on ESPN.

I thought the maximum suspension allowed was 4 games? When Jared Allen was suspended for DUI all the talk was that the longest he could be suspended for was 4 games.

If I was the Steelers I would get rid of him. I know winning is important but so is image. Who wants the starting QB of their favorite team to be a rapist?

Schefter now reporting that Roethlisberger is being shopped around for a top 10 pick.

Raiders part of the talk.

Not that i am aware of. I know Pacman got 8 games. Vick got what was essentially a 2 year suspension.

Goodell doesn't screw around when it comes to this stuff and its completely his call. Gotta like the guy for that.

Teams can suspend a player for a maximum of 4, Goodell has no such restriction.

I forgot about Pacman. Vick was much less, wasn't it only officially 2 games? Since he obviously couldn't suitup when he was behind bars.

I guess Stallworth got a year.
