Great trade for the Fins as they needed a good WR. Still hearing lots of reports that Ginn in is being shopped, it would not surprise me to see him moved at the draft or before. Lots of speculation from Miami that the Fins are shopping Ronnie Brown as well. The Fins could be a very different looking offence once the season actually starts.

Well that didn't take long.
Marshall gets the contract he wants - 5 years @ 50 million - $24 million guaranteed. Highest paid WR in NFL history.

Holy crap. This is so un-like a Bill Parcells move... it's bizzare. Dude is a great player no question, but who is gonna get him the ball?
Interesting stuff going on in Miami though, no question.

And the Cowboys trades how much to the Lions to get Roy Williams? (1st, 3rd, 6th rd picks) Wow, Jerry got fleeced.
And it is no wonder Romo doesn't throw to him very much:
Quote:
Williams had eight drops and 38 catches for a 17.4 percent drop rate.
|
http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/ar...ll-butter.html
Another incredible stat from that article:
Quote:
The lowest drop rate among only wide receivers? Jerricho Cotchery of the New York Jets, at 1.7. He had 57 receptions and one drop, according to STATSINC. Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald was next at 2.02. He had 97 catches and only two drops.
|
Only 2 drops for Fitzgerald? Wow, everyone knows he is great, but that is incredible.

Fitzgerald is the definition of a beast. Along with Marshall.
Good trade for both Broncos and Dolphins. They're getting a great receiver to help their offense, and Broncos get a fair return in picks this year and next year since that appears to be the best they would be able to get for him.

Yeah, I am happy to see Marshall out of the AFC West, but the Bronco's did get a decent return on him given the circumstances. This is a pretty good draft and they might be able to move that pick they have next year to get a guy they really want in this draft.

Chad Henne is a good QB, he's got one hell of a cannon for an arm, maybe he can now flourish with a WR.
Finally an awesome WR in Miami.
I think this just gave Miami a shot at winning a tough division, with the Jets and Pats.
Oh those poor Bills are going to have a hard time next year now.

Well Orton got him the ball a bunch and that was without many other options.
I think Marshall makes QB's better.

Honestly, as long as he doesn't let his emotions get the best of him off the field, you guys have no clue what you just got. Seriously. You're collective jaws will be dropping.
Instantly better than the Jets IMO.

Tony Scheffler has signed his RFA tender today.
They likely have a trade worked out already. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go to Washington. Cooley is winding down and Scheffler is better than Fred Davis.
Minnesota could use a second option after Shiancoe.

It would be very strange if either of those two teams traded for Scheffler...maybe that's just my opinion though.

How does Holmes only get a 5th and Marshall two 2nds? As a Raiders fan though I won't complain about talent being traded out of the conference. If only crazy Al could get a real QB the Raiders may be able to win 6 or 7 games.

I think if Dez Bryant falls to the Broncos, they have to scoop him up. They need that big play receiver, and Bryant epidomizes that.

Art Rooney will address the Pittsburgh media in 20 minutes regarding Roethlisberger. This latest bit suggests that the Steelers are open to trading their franchise QB. On one hand I'd be surprised if they do, as I don't think his on field play can be replaced easily. On the other hand, maybe the Rooney's are that dead set on character they'll move on. Although this article does suggest that they'd want fair value back, it's not a case of trading him for whatever they can get.
"This is not a case of having to get rid of this guy,'" the source said. "There would have to be fair value."

He'd look great in Silver & Black and it's not like Davis cares about character.

Well in terms of size, ability to throw the ball down field he is everything Davis likes. I suspect his off field behavior fits the Raiders image a lot more than what the Rooney's want.

With all the incidents around the league of players in trouble with the law in varying degrees (Leroy Hill in SEA got charged with 4th degree assult of his girlfriend last week, a week after a plea for a marijuna charge), Davis could easily have a team in OAK and also return the RaidersII to LA with a full team.

I think the 4 game suspension hurt Holmes' value immensely.
