So someone with an iPad in Canada can't access the app store to get iPad apps yet?
Just wondering because I might have a chance to get one, and I don't like the idea of having to have two accounts.

You can't access the app store on the iPad itself. You have to log into the iTunes store on your computer and transfer the apps that way. However, not all apps are currently available to Canadians that way either. You won't be able to get iBooks, Keynote and Pages to name a few. The iPad apps aren't categorized in the Canadian iTunes store either so it can be difficult to browse.

Hm, I could probably live with that for now.
I wonder if those people selling iPads for a profit are actually doing so, I should maybe buy two and sell one to help pay for the other one.

I thought I could live with it as well but once you've had a taste of the US iTunes it's hard to go back.
Also, searching for iPad apps in the Canadian iTunes store is painful compared to what it will be when the iPad is released.

So it's different than logging into the american store from your iphone? You can't just login with your american account on the ipad and be taken to the american app store? Or do you just mean using a Canadian account?

You can access the US account. The Canadian one throws up an error though.

Gotcha, thank you. I was concerned for a minute you couldn't buy apps at all from the ipad.

The more I think about it the more I want the iPad just for digital newspaper and comics. I haven't bought a comic or trade paperback in forever, but the iPad would change that.

I'm trying to gauge the market for them. I figure you can probably get a couple hundred bucks more than you paid but to expect double like people on kijjiji is wishful thinking.

Comics are amazing on this. I've been a comic reader for too long and this is making me question whether I need to buy single issues anymore. This coming from a nerd with 10 long boxes of them...
The Marvel app makes reading comics like watching a movie. A very cool experience. The selection sucks though. They have runs of comics but nothing really new.
Magazines are equally awesome, with Popular Science and Time doing some cool stuff with their magazines.

Once model railroader comes out with a pay for ipad app, I will be all over this. Right now I will pass on the beta version.

The videos I've seen of the Marvel app are uber cool. Can you just buy individual issues or trades as well?

You can't even buy current comics in the Marvel app, just really old ones I think.

You can buy individual issues. No trades that I know of. But Photon is right, the issues are OLD. The latest Amazing Spider-Man they have is 551 which came out in February 2008.
Marvel has said that they won't be pushing this as much as their printed stuff. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. They're leaving money on the table by not releasing new issues digitally as well.

They should have a code in each issue you can use to download a digital version.

That's a good idea. Though I've reached the point that I want to read certain issues but I don't want to physically own them I'd buy them for $1.99 digitally though (which is the cost of the comics in the app).

As I had to play around with an iphone of late, I found the Marvel Comics app for iphone. I assume it's basically the same as for ipad, only the ipad one is bigger. I have to say I'm not a fan.
But I'm spoiled by comic book reader and cbrs.

Comic Zeal allows you to drag and drop CBR and CBZ files (and many other formats) directly into iTunes. A quick conversion when you open the app and you're done.
I don't condone using torrents to get free comic books...
