Default Yahoo: The 10 Worst Singers Exposed

You tube samples are included as well for your, err, listening pleasure.

http://new.ca.music.yahoo.com/blogs/...ngers-exposed/

Because we're far more interested in music's worst singers, the girls and boys in rock and pop who couldn't hit a high note if you gave them a loaded cannon and lit a match.

Our shortlist below follows the leak of a horrific recent Jennifer Lopez recording session, and includes all the recorded evidence necessary to expose some of music's biggests stars. So take a bow one and all and put down that microphone...

10 Jennifer Lopez

09 Liam Gallagher
08 Kanye West
07 Shaun Ryder
06 Amy Winehouse
05 Ashlee Simpson
04 Ian Brown
03 Britney Spears
02 Jedward
01 Jordan

Shaun Ryder was one of the vocalists on the Gorillaz track DARE. Compare the recording to the live version. Yikes.

Ian Brown and Liam Gallagher may not be great singers, but it sure works for them.

That's why all these new singers are all like: "Auto-tune is the best thing ever! I will make my whole album auto-tune!"

Sure but when you write good music, then you can get away with being a untalented singer.

Nobody every accussed Springsteen or Dylan of being vocal talents, but their writing covers them and in Springsteen's case his live shows are still awesome.

for the most part the singers listed are horrible singers with horrible music that lean on autotune to protect them. Without technology they would be singing cover tunes badly on a street corner begging for change.

Kind of like how Lady Gaga covers her inherant crappiness behind her outrageous outfits and overly dramatic weirdo videos. And the fact that she's probably wrote Pokerface from experiences with the record company.

It should be noted that a live performance is much more forgiving of mistakes than a studio recording - in the listeners perception.

That being said, there are a lot of artists out there that aren't even close to being as good as they sound on their recordings.

It isn't like digitally altering your voice is something new though.

Artists have been covering up their terrible voices for decades in the studios..

We must be the same age. Those are the same four names I don't recognize.

Ke$ha has to be up there. I think she uses auto tuning in all her songs.

I'm pretty sure this is a British list. Jordan is only really known in the UK.

I don't mind artists taking bits and pieces of multiple takes to end up with one track that really good. Even a little bit of auto correction is fine. But when you can't sing it even close to being on pitch, and EVERYTHING has to be corrected, that's something else.

It should also be noted that singing in a concert setting isn't going to be as good as even an unaltered studio take.

And yes, this list seems mostly British.

I remember seeing the Our Lady Peace show in the dome a few years ago that was recorded for the live disc. I had a great time and really enjoyed it. The recording of it that was released however I found almost unbearable to listen to just because Rain Maida's voice was so out of tune. I've always found it odd that in the moment I didn't notice it at all.

Ashlee Simpson only number 5? First off, it's a crime to even call her a vocalist, 2nd, she HAS to be at the bottom of that list.

Amy Winehouse would not be on that list if she hadn't wrecked her voice smoking crack. She is a jazz and compositional genius who went so terribly terribly wrong. I have so much sympathy for her.
