the moment he in my opinion at least became the best captain was when he handed the C over to Messier so that he put the team first.

Probably the worst move the Canucks did. As I remember their were plenty of rumours at the time that people from above wanted Linded to hand over the C. He was the captain for 7 seasons at that point and Messier was on the downslide, Linden should have kept it.
But, who cares about the Canucks. [/b][/quote]
hehheh yah besides it is the canucks...
i never thought that linden was a great captain. passable? sure. servicable? sure. great? no.
what i DID think linden was and where he had his most success was as an A. I felt that it let him focus more on being a leader instead of THE leader...if that makes any sense. maybe if i put it a different way. at a certain point, the captain has to be the dude...the one guy...the man. i always thought that linden was just too much of a team guy to be the C guy...if that makes any sense. kinda like linden was a great 2nd line centre and that was the perfect role for him instead of a 1st line centre.
leadershipwise, i think that 2 great flames A dudes were hunter and pepper. everyone who was here for the run in 89 knows why.
