I'll give a hint, it's a four letter acronym that keeps our TV and Telecommunications crappy.
Cable companies had approval for the Superstation, and companies used the local Atlanta feed of the original TBS. When they switched, the cable companies up here were stuck with that feed, which became Peachtree, and the national feed became the good TBS.
Now in order to get the real TBS back, cable companies have to apply for a special interest channel.

Maybe we can get TBS to play Degrassi Junior High reruns so we can have CanCon on TBS.

I just miss being able to watch a ton of Braves games, and now TBS has really ramped up their MLB coverage in general.
It seems the CRTC is fine with having Sportsnet West show Yankees and Tampa games while a Blue Jays game is on Sportsnet Ontario ... so we might as well just open it up to all the other games.

According to a press release sent out by the cable network (which, like CNN, is a unit of Time Warner), the comedian is joining TBS to host a late-night show that is expected to debut in November.
I thought he could not go on TV until January 1, 2011, pursuant to his settlement with NBC?
TBS? Yikes, don't like the long-term chances there. I assume a Canadian network will pick it up (CTV or Global).

I am assuming they are allowing him more freedom. I remember someone saying that he will likely take less money and more freedom.
EDIT:

But what it does set up is a new kind of heavyweight match in late night. Now Mr. O’Brien will be face to face with the two big stars of late-night in cable, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central.
All three men are close friends; now they will be measured directly against each other in the ratings.
|
From this below average article... http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.co...ned/?src=busln
These 3 will make for great comedy.

I have to quote this because it's too late for me to thank it.
Also, I have to return some videotapes.

Conan and George Lopez back to back? Talk about a clash of demographics.

TBS? Damn, talk about a safe vanilla network. What, HGTV wasn't available? I was really hoping for HBO or Showtime so he could really let loose. I really don't see the young moms who watch Kate and Leopold and Sleepless in Seattle on TBS being super into masturbating bears.
George Lopez must be the most annoying person on television since Carlos Mencia. Although at least he doesn't steal.

I don't like this move for Conan. I don't know exactly what he is thinking by doing this move.
Quote:
TBS emphasized how young their audience was, a match with Mr. O’Brien’s core viewers. “The lead-ins would be shows like ‘Family Guy’ and ‘The Office,’ which is great for Conan
|
Oh great, RERUNS of Fox's Family Guy and NBC's The Office are going to lead into Conan. Fantastic...

supposedly Fox affiliates in NY and LA had an agreement in their syndication deal with 30 Rock that kicks in next year that they had to show it at 11pm. So Conan wouldn't be able to start in the two biggest markets until 1130.
and then TBS made a big push for him
I wonder how all the people who complained taking the moral high ground about Leno "stealing" Conan's spot feel about him doing the same to George Lopez

Conan actually completely refused to deal with TBS because he explicity told them he would never be in the business of pushing someone out of their timeslot.
After few weeks Lopez called Conan personally to tell him that he was all for it and to convince him it was voluntary and the best for everyone.
Sometime somewhere, the TBS secret police let Lopez's family go from the dungeon they had been held captive in for the past month.

The bonus is that he gets to follow Conan O'Brien.

Looks like Conan checked with Lopez, personally.
Quote:
Conan's first reaction -- he didn't want to do to someone else what was done to him, referring to NBC's decision to blindside Conan. Koonin told Conan that George had signed off, but Conan wanted to make sure. George then called Conan to reassure him he was on board and thought they would be great partners.

No surprise of the "sources" tmz story and the Lopez quote. I'm sure they wanted that in the open up front.
I just don't see it with TBS. But I trust he's making the right decision, I don't think he would pooch his career with a decision months in the making.
