Had shoulder trouble for two years now. This year he decided to finally get surgery. He may be back next season.

One positive is that, while he was injured most of the season, he was actually pretty good in the few games he played.

PS. Brodie is awesome. I have a feeling he may be challenging for a roster spot next season, if there are any available spots.

I see him having a higher upside than most of our D prospects, but not challenging for an NHL job next year. Pelech and Negrin are probably still ahead of him even with their injuries.

Nemisz with the Game tying goal tonight, to help the Spits win. Hall kept scoreless tonight. Nemisz also out for the game winning goal in OT.

I'm telling you guy, Nemisz is a great player. He carried the Spits on his back last year when Ellis and Hall were at the world juniors.

Yep. Pelech was already ready this year imo, despite his bad camp. He looked better than Pardy in his time with the Flames last year.

The only Spitfire in the 2009 WJHC was Ellis. Hall didn't make it.

Looks like it was a game where Plymouth's goaltender stood on his head. Shots were 73-21 for Windsor.

I have a feeling that Seabrook may have worked himself ahead of Negrin on the offensive D side of the spectrum. Even before the injuries Seabrook has logged more minutes than Negrin in most situations.

Ah right. Hall was hurt, or something like that.

Gaelen Patterson had 2 assists and was +3 in the game tonight. Brandon leads the series 2-1 after the Blades win tonight.

Gaelen now has 3 goals 4 assists and is a +7 in 7 games. WTF is this kid? haha.

I guess he is an over ager this year. Got skipped in his original draft year. Hopefully he can carry over his WHL success to a solid start in the AHL next year. Pretty solid kid, 6 feet 205 pounds.

Skipped over once, yes, but he's still eligible for another year in the WHL. He's had a ton of success shorthanded in the regular season - a poor man's Bourque, maybe?

I already posted it once, but he is a late birthday which in pro hockey is actually a pretty big deal (start to see the drop off in players pro-chances after FEB birthdays even....)

So he is only half a year older than most in his second draft-eligible year. Not as bad as it sounds at first, lots of players get passed over at that age at that high of a level when they have 6months less development and growth.

Hopefully he keeps catching up though....

Skellefteå lost again in overtime and again result was 3-2. HV-71 took 3-1 in series and has chance to end it today at 11:00 Calgary time (hope I got this right). I will post link if there's stream available.

In game 4 Skellefteå had all d-man healthy (though few seem not to be 100% but are fighting through injuries because it's playoff time) and it forced Erixon out of top three pairings. Erixon has been regular top6 guy with 15-20 mins of ice time whole season long but two guys who have usually served in 6&7 d-man's role have now been lot better in playoffs and they have climbed over Erixon in depth chart. Erixon hasn't played bad by any meaning, those two have just outplayed him. Skellefteå is build to be defence-first team and one of the toughest teams to score against in the league so it's not that alarming that our top-prospect doesn't fit in top6 role. He could as well be back in bigger role today giving mistakes several fellow d-man made in last game.

Erixon had 6:05 mins of ice time and he used his little time on ice very effectively being very solid and making zero misplays.

Edit. No stream available.

Erixon was excellent in the latest game but it was pity he was propably the only one in his team to do so. HV-71 took easy 4-1 and win series with same numbers. Skellefteå looked exhausted and their game was very passive and ineffective although they had few good momentums during two final periods but their offence dried in the corners (think Flames). Very few guys had energy left on either team. Tim Erixon was one who had something left in tank after spending most of last game in bench. He started this game too in bench and played very solid in few shifts he get and did everything right in d-zone + chipped in some offence too and his only mistake was not to help his team to score... until midway mark of second period he had a super shift and scored team's only goal. In that shift he was all over the ice, it's very difficult to defend against Erixon type of guy who has big body and skates so smoothly keeping feet moving all the time. He found open space in the slot and scored despite not having perfect touch to puck. Watch yourself, highlights at 1:50.

After goal he earned more ice time including time on PP and got some good shots through from point but teammates were too tired to create traffic in front. On even strength he joined rushes more confidently and on o-zone he supported forwards well, better than I have seen him do in long time. Erixon had 13:20 of ice time, second highest shot total in team with 5, +1 and that goal of course. Excellent game by him and gotta hope he continues to play that kind of effective two-way game which he has potential to actualice. He just needs more self-confidence to do so. That self-confidence is key to improve most of his weakness or at least that's how it looks for me: he doesn't seem to have full believe in himself and that's what I suggest to be Erixon's biggest weakness at the moment. But what do I know, I just saw him play over 30 times this season (necessary self-praise).

Teams are allowed to dress 20 skaters like in international games. Some use 8 d-men and 12 forwards but most have 7 d-men and 13 forwards.

Mitch Wahl with a goal and an assist, leading Abbotsford to a come-back shootout win over Lake Erie. As a result, Abbotsford will play Rochester in the playoffs.

Good to hear Wahl is fitting in and contributing with the AHL team. A lot of players find the biggest jump is from junior to AHL.

Matt Pelech also got back in the lineup. Good to see him back healthy and playing again. He'll be a big boost for the Heat in the playoffs.

How has Seabrook looked on the defensive side of things? I remember cursing his name often when he played for the Hitmen, even in his very last year. He had a tendency for bad outlet pass attempts resulting in turnovers, and was often out of position quite badly. I feel that if he fixes that part of his game (mostly mental really), he could be decent for sure.
