I don't follow enough of these threads but I am guessing your a spurs fan am I right. The spurs are all world and all class, never complain, just play hard clean football. God I hope you guys choke away the season and finish out of the top 4. Out of the top 6 would make me even happier
Not only a Spurs fan but a Canucks fan as well.

Usually Spurs have no reason to complain because they are never really in a position to win anything of substance.

There's a very good chance that you'll get your wish of Spurs in 7th. They have an uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

What exactly doesn't make sense? Isn't diane_phaneuf a Spurs and Canucks fan?

My bigger point is that you rarely hear Spurs managers complaining about some poor red card or bad decision that may have cost them the win in a big game, because they usually aren't in a position to win important games in competitions that aren't the Carling Cup - this year's FA Cup notwithstanding.

Aren't most games in the PL usually important to the final standings?

Not if you are talking about the difference between 9th and 10th - or am I missing something?

did the standings change with no games being played?

last time I checked they were in 5th, and still with the potential to win a trophy this year

Arsenal are about to finish I think their 5th straight season without one

See, this is the real problem with Spurs (and their supporters) - they define themselves not by what they do on the pitch, but on how their north London rivals do. A successful season for Spurs might find them without silverware and in 10th, but as long as Arsenal doesn't win anything, it is OK. I can't think of another club in the Premiership that defines themselves or their successes contingent upon how their primary rivals fare.

I could care less if Arsenal has gone trophy-less for 5 seasons though I'm sure their supporters would. I just can't stand this perennial victim-complex that is rife with Tottenham supporters, especially over here in SE England. And for the life of me I have never been able to figure it out.

gonna have to say no on that one, just pointing out that Arsenal aren't exactly in the same league as the Chelsea's and United's of the world.

Which is the problem with their fans, they think they are.

Well you are entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine and I can tell you that the interactions I have with Spurs fans over here are all the same. There is a real inferiority/victim complex that seems to infect a great deal of their fans, which, like I have said, I have not been witness to from any other team's fanbase. Sure other clubs' supporters have issues, arrogance, sense of entitlement, delusion, I'm not denying that, but there is something inherently plaintive about them.

Apologies if I have offended. These are just my observations, nothing more.

not offended at all, I was mostly saying no to the happiness with finishing 10th and Arsenal getting nothing.

Obviously Arsenal have been the more successful North London club recently, so there are fans (myself included) who are happy if they fail. But not to the degree that it gets above Spurs. The Spurs fans I know in london, mostly just family because I moved when I was very young, are all going to be cheering for Arsenal when they play Man City in a few weeks time.

There is definitely an inferiority complex though, but it comes out more in an acceptance of failure. Losing to Pompey today didn't surprise me, doesn't change that I was mad about it. But after the last 20 years its pretty much expected territory. If Spurs don't finish 4th than Arsenal not winning the title is just a little bonus, although Chelsea winning it isn't much better.

Personally, I think Fergie is worse because he hides behind this reputable image that has falsely been built up. However, you are right that Wegner is terrible with his one-sidedness but it can be almost comical at times.

ya true, I have no problem that they do it. But Wenger is way more up front about it to the point that you can't trust anything he says

Fergie always taking the high and mighty position can get annoying

Just a heads up, I dont really follow Barca but they took a 3-1 loss at Inter yesterday, but today is the big day, the German giants take on the French!!

Go Bayern!! Keep rolling along!

For the record, Arjen Robben is amazing.

Yeah Robben is talented, when he stays on his feet. He was one of the biggest divers during his time at Stamford Bridge. Robben and Drogba in the same side - Paul Scholes' worst nightmare!

Yeah, well a lot of English clubs have diving issues, lets not forget the time of Ronaldo hitting the pitch at every opportunity during his days.

I think the worst one I can remember recently was Ngog, as a Liverpool fan I was pretty embarassed about that one. I'd have rather lost that game than tie it up on a penalty awarded for that!

Well. Halftime and Bayern is down to 10. Ribery gets a straight red. The homer in me wants to say that was a tad harsh as it looks like he just whiffed on the challenge, but he did cleat the guy pretty badly.

F***.
